All right! We're back in business! Bravely facing the wicked winter (sunny, +10 degrees :) ), our boys returned for the 2nd half. As kraken said, one game was already played, the other 8 will take place the following 3 days. Match of the MD: Urziceni - CFR Cluj. Plus Dinamo - Craiova. Should be an interesting one.

I just remembered I forgot to post the attendances for the last 3 MDs. So, here they are:

MD15

Total: 31,584
Average: 3,509
Procent of total capacity: 23.7%
Highest: Steaua - Vaslui 7,667
Lowest: Dinamo - Unirea Alba-Iulia 1,000

MD16

Total: 48,417
Average: 5,380
Procent of total capacity: 31.3%
Highest: Craiova - Steaua 15,000
Lowest: Unirea Alba-Iulia - Gaz Metan Mediaş 1,000

MD17

Total: 21,000 (lowest)
Average: 2,333 (lowest)
Procent of total capacity: 17% (lowest)
Highest: Oţelul Galaţi - Craiova & Gloria Bistriţa - Rapid 3,667
Lowest: Dinamo - Vaslui 1,500

This last MD was just awful. There were a lot of games who had more spectators than this entire MD!

Sunny day at Brasov and a more-than-decent game(surprisingly!-one side defensive, the other weak) between the hosts and Unirea Alba-Iulia.
Brasov MUST do something to improve their midfield and stop wasting so many opportunities if they are to get the EL spot and do something useful with it.
Unirea don't look like certain victims, they have some quality players, problem is most of them are on loan, so they've not much to build on, in perspective. One pleasant surprise was Enzo Bruno, transferred from Independiente, who, during the 20 minutes he played, managed to work pretty darn well through one of the best defenses in our league. The boy's got perspectives.

FC Brasov - Zaharia (31), Sburlea (85)

2 1

Alba Iulia - C. Cristea (29)

So, 3-1 in Ghencea, pretty much an expected result......NOT! :grin1:

Yes, I know Rapid also lost, but it was an away game and it was just 1-2. A home defeat in front of the last placed is always rated as Maximum Shame. And what beautifull goals.... :P

If we consider how Timişoara played, I guess we should just send Unirea Urziceni in CL and get over with it...

Without them. This table shows how many spectators each team attracts; I don't want "closed doors" games to influence the average.

How do you explain the difference between Dinamo's home and away games?
Are they playing at home behind closed doors (like in Europe)? because it's weird that they have the biggest attendance away, but so little at home. I thought maybe their fans can't come to the home games, so they are going to the away games. Is it true?

Dinamo played just one game behind closed doors in this championship, but even that it is not taken into account (otherwise the average would've been lower). The reason for such a low home attendance is represented by the cold relations between the fans and the mnagement of the club. Plus, the fans also dislike how Dinamo players behave (on and off the pitch). Indolent in the first case, party leaders in the other.

Also, the famous home game with Slovan Liberec (when the fans invaded the pitch) put more distance between the 2 sides. As a result, the next home game after that incident (vs. CFR Cluj, a derby otherwise) had only 1,500 spectators.

On away games it's another story. The fans of the home team come in great numbers to watcha big match. When Dinamo visits a city, it means a hot game is about to be played, so the audience is great. Plus, the Dinamo fans outside Bucharest (especially from Transilvania) are a bit more tolerant to the management and players. That's why there is a huge gap between the 2 attendances.

Guess it's the first time this season when the top two teams are separated by three (or more) points. It may be the last time, too, though I don't think Steaua will managed to take any points at Cluj next match day.

So, CFR won against Unirea with the same team they finished the first phase of the season. (Less Dubarbier, of course.) As far as I can tell, none of the newly transferred players were used, though N. Dica was on the substitutes' bench. (He will probably play next game versus Steaua, his former team.) Not too sure what's going on with the two Italians that came on loan; are they still behind with the physical preparation?

Traore seems to be on track to take off from Cluj at the end of the season. He only needs to score four more goals or so and make sure escapes any major injury.

To me, the surprise in this match day was Timisoara, who failed to win away at Bistrita. Guess, Iancu's eagerness of getting rid of the Karamyan brothers is starting to show on the team's results.

I'm also a little surprised by Craiova's coach. I mean, his declarations after the game, blaming the referee for the result. Considering he's a Dutch I would have expected more restraint on his side.

Anyone following Vaslui more closely? Only a draw at Medias... Hmmm...

Very competitive championship, with many teams so close!
I think in the first round, there were 6-7 teamson top, with the same points!

But, why do you have so poor results in Europian Cups?

Leader Cluj was eliminated in EL groups, finishing 4th in an easy group,
2nd Steaua was in a difficult group but finished behind Sheriff,
while Dinamo (5th) and Vaslui (7th) (I know them from their games with our teams) weren't too strong.

@aladdin

well there's nothing surprising in Vaslui drawing that fisty GazMetan team, especially when your technical players are knee-deep in mud + you have that joke of a coach(lacatus) behind the team.

Well, you know, European Cups are kind of boring and not so competitive anymore... Whenever a Romanian team wants to have a training day they sign up for a play in CL or EL. :-)
