Joking aside though, the rates in general seem to be worse in the poorer countries, so factors such as the quality of roads, modern cars having enhanced safety features, and better medical care once you have had an accident might all be factors here. The frequency of drink driving might also come into it, but I don't know how that compares between the countries.
@subway: You always try to say stupid jokes, but when I write something about ‘uranus’ or about you ‘claiming social benefits’, you do not continue the ‘joke’! Why is that??

Italians seem to be the most self-ironic people in Europe.
People from BiH have their stanging in the other former-yugoslavian countries.
Almost the same with the Sweds and the rest of Scandinavia.
