2nd Edition of the CHL thats the Champions Hockey League is into the Round of 16 which is mainly dominated by Sweden and Finland.... Russia KHL teams dont play in the CHL or imagine they would dominate as well.

Espoo Blues (Fin) vs HV71 (Swe)
Sparta Praha (Cze) vs Oulun Karpat (Fin)
TPS (Fin) vs Storhamar Ishockey (Nor)
Djurgardens (Swe) vs Lukko (Fin)
Liberec (Cze) vs HC Davos (Sui)
Eisbaren Berlin (Ger) vs Skelleftea AIK (Swe)
Litvinov (Cze) vs Frolunda (Swe)
Lulea (Swe) vs Tappara (Fin)

Games are played Home and Away like in the Football Champions League.

Slovakian teams are part of the KHL in Russia.

What is interesting though is the biggest team in Finland is now part of the KHL. I think if they find success and it doesnt hurt there fan base that i can maybe see more Finnish and maybe Swedish teams joining the KHL.

I personally think that EBEL thats Austria and DEL thats Germany need to see about joining together maybe with Switzerland, Poland and Slovenia to try and make a bigger league in central Europe.

Well it isn't "at least one Finnish team" but rather "exact one" :D

No hard feelings, everyone is better at something. Just kidding, I just pointed it out as I thought you made an unintentional mistake :)

I remember a couple of years ago the final tournament (European Trophy) took place in Vienna and Red Bull Salzburg won it by beating Jokerit Helsinki in an exciting macht 3:2 in finals! which I saw live in Vienna. This year Salzburg dropped out after GS against Storhammer NOR (same surprise as in football against Malmö).

Frölunda won the Champions League by the way.

So the first two winners of this tournament have been Swedish :D. Luleå won the First Season beating this years Champions Frölunda.

Our League is by far the best one in this tournament sadly we can't see how strong it is compared to the KHL because KHL teams aren't allowed to compete in it.

Ideally we could have a tournament with the CHL Champion, KHL Champion and NHL Champion. But it would never happen sadly.

Sadly Dutch icehockey is at a record low. Our best clubteam playing on 3rd level in Germany. I don't know if they are allowed for promotion, as they are in second place. Our national team is now at fourth level, playing countries where they probably not seeing a lot of natural ice. Well I can't see us missing out on promotion against opponents like Belgium, Spain and Australia.
It is strange however. We are fantastic in iceskating and great in hockey. Why can't we be good in icehockey? But the same goes for basketball. The Dutch are among the tallest people in the world, but our basketball teams playing at dubious level.
