7) (4) Portugal 0/4 = 0
Amaze me how difficult UEFA tries to do for Bundesliga teams. 12 matches already against Big7, whereas Italy only 5. The other matches are against 'minor' opposition. Spain 9 matches having 7 teams in GS demonstrates its very lucky draw as always. The other side is that Bundesliga teams doing good against decent opposition only can make Bundesliga more famous abroad.

To be fair, you could also say that Spain got some difficult draws as well, at least if you consider the teams they could have been drawn against. Borussia Dortmund for example is probably one of the most difficult teams from pot 2 that Spanish teams could have drawn. And Spanish teams are in general incredible dominant in Europe right now, so there good rating is no surprise. Italy I agree is very lucky in this regard.

Astonishinghow this changes if you include the 2 next weaker championships in the classification. But still Italy on top, which is for me a surprise.

Now let's go a step further:

if you only consider the big 5 it's:
1) Italy
2) Spain
3)France
4) Germany
5) England

if you include the next 2, Russia (6) and Portugal (7), it's
1) Italy
2) Spain
4) Germany
4)England
(4) Russia )
6) France
(7) Portugal )

Now, if we look at all results, including vs minor chamiponships, it's
considering the big 5:
1) Spain
2) England
3) Germany
4) France
5) Italy

Well, firstly it is very debatable if Portugal and Russia would be considered "weaker" than France, but we had this discussion already. Italy remains on top of course thanks to their excellent record against their (albeit relatively weak) opponents. Spain is as dominant as ever, considering their circumstances. The rest'll be close. Portugal has the bad luck of only facing relatively few, but strong opponents so they are likely to remain last at least until the K.O.-round.

Again. There is no big 5. There is either a big 4. Or a big 7. France are way worse than Italy, Germany, England. A mile between them in the five year rankings. While France, Russia and Portugal are on the same level. Only fraction between them in the rankings. So 4. Or 7. Not 5. Nuff said.

Updated ranking:
1) Spain 18/11= 1,64
2) Italy 10/7 = 1,43
3) Germany 19/15 =1,27
4)England 12/11= 1,09
5) France 9/11 = 0, 82
6) Russia 4/9 = 0,44
7) Portugal 0/5 = 0

We had two changes this week:
-Spain overtakes Italy and takes the top spot (of course this was only a matter of time with Spain)
-France takes the previously shared 5th place from Russia

Portugal still waits for it's first point, but honestly, they got the short stick in this competetion. All their games are against teams from the Big Four leagues, none against those from their own weight class. And Sporting got very unlucky to not get a single point from their two games gainst Dortmund and their away match against Real Madrid. Of course as a Dortmund fan, I'll be hoping for them to end this spell in their next game ;).

It`s very early in the morning, and my head is not very with it, but it looks to me as though we (Spain  ) have 16 in 11 games--we played only two games that "count" during Matchday 4--Barça lost and Atleti won. Tell me if I'm out to lunch. We're still ahead in any case, but not by much if I got this right.

You are right, now it is a lot closer, still advantage for Spain.

Corrected ranking:
1) Spain 16/11= 1,45
2) Italy 10/7 = 1,43
3) Germany 19/15 =1,27
4)England 12/11= 1,09
5) France 9/11 = 0, 82
6) Russia 4/9 = 0,44
7) Portugal 0/5 = 0

Thank you for the correction, I tend to make those mistakes sometimes. Now at least no one can call me biased if I were to repeat them with Germany.

So Italy does great against the big opponents, and terrible against the smaller ones?

Or they got rather lucky with their draws. I mean no disrespect, but Sevilla, Bilbao, Benefica, Lyon and Southhampton are not exactly Real Madrid or Bayern.
