All the gear, no idea: Lycra-clad professional cyclists on a world record attempt are overtaken on a hill by a Colombian farmer wearing jeans and a baggy shirt on his boneshaker bike
The two athletes struggled up a hill while local farmer Luis breezed past them
Happened in Antioquia during ride from one end of South America to other
Luis usually rides around 62 miles each day between his fields in the hilly area

Lance Armstrong (who according to wikipedia was born Lance Gunderson) admitted in an interview that in the beginning of his career he was taking large doses of cortisone, and that in 1992 he started taking erythropoietin (EPO). He started competing in Grand Tour events in 1992.

Tommorow it the start of Giro d'Italia in Torino. Lot of mountains and little time against the clock this year.
Simon Yates and Egan Bernal are the top favourites, followed by riders like Mikel Landa, Jay Hinley, Romain Bardet, Hugh Carthy, Aleksandr Vlasov. Marc Soller and Pello Bilbao are outsiders. The Shark Nibaldi might do his last Giro but his age and a broken wrist won't help him

Portuguese João Rodrigues (from W52, a continental team) just won Volta ao Algarve against Pro series teams (this is Pro series race) with 2nd place in last summit.

In Giro Tim Merlier won the final sprint in Novara. Tommorow another flat stage ideal for another arrive in closed pack

While Tadej Pogacar is about to win his second in a row Tour de France, with more than 5 minutes over second place and almost a year ahead 10th place, the shadow of mechanical doping rises again with suspects of a KERS (kinematic energy recovery system) being used by top 4 teams.

Cycling is the 2nd most popular sport in Belgium. There is arguably no other country in the world were cycling is as popular.

It's weird how there seem to always be different nations starting to dominate an era in cycling, at least in terms of gc riders.

Late 2000s/early 2010s Spain: Contador, Valverde, Joaquim Rodriguez
Followed by Britain: Wiggins, Froome, Thomas, Yates brothers
and now even Slovenia: Roglic and Pogacar

In Britain only Froome managed to win more than 1 great tour. Like in other sports, the gap from sharks and other teams has grow and now its hard so see anybody outside top 4 teams to win a great tour.
