Is there a country named Southern Ireland?
For drama, I would like to see this,
Denmark-Sweden
Croatia-Greece,
Italy-Northern Ireland
Switzerland-Republic of Ireland
Denmark-Sweden
Croatia-Greece,
Italy-Northern Ireland
Switzerland-Republic of Ireland

kaerin, well yesterday we changed the poles of the Globe. the Northpole is now called Southpole and vice versa....so.........
As usual, I would like to see pairs that never played each other (impossible in this case) or at least haven't met for a long time.
Considering only official games:
Croatia vs Northern Ireland (never met in official game, only in friendly)
Italy vs Greece (last met WC'82q)
Denmark vs Rep.of Ireland (last met WC'94q)
Switzerland vs Sweden (last met Euro'96q)
Considering all games including friendlies
Switzerland vs Sweden (2002 friendly)
Denmark vs Northern Ireland (2007 - Euro'08q)
Italy vs Greece (2008 friendly)
Croatia vs Rep.of Ireland (Euro'12)

I think your order i just fine so I don't see any upset wins. But I do hope Italy - Sweden.Kerberos wrote:So, seedings in UEFA are final, after yesterdays matches.

As a Dane, I would love to get Sweden, even though they are the "highest" ranking unseeded.
This is because Sweden beat Denmark in the previous play-off - largely due to the works of Zlatan.
Now Zlatan is gone and it would be a great revenge to send Sweden out.
Of the other three, I have no preferences.

Maybe I've watched (or better put, read) too much Godfather, but for drama purposes, wouldn't it be good to pair Italy with Ireland?

A dull FIFA World Cup playoffs style draw would be:
Switzerland v N Ireland
Sweden v Denmark
Italy v R ireland
Croatia v Greece
With the Swiss, Swedes, Italians and Greeks advancing.

I root for Croatia so bring on Nortern Ireland. Italy should make it regardless the opposition and I wouldn`t mind Ireland to advance, but who could they beat?
In terms of strength
1-2 Italy and Croatia
3-5 Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden
6-8 Greece and both Irelands
Personally I d like Denmark and at least one Ireland to qualify. And for many reasons I am not a fan of Italian and Greek football. So for me an ideal draw would be smth like this
Denmark vs Greece
Switzerland vs Ireland
Croatia vs N Ireland
Italy vs Sweden

In my humble opinion, if your draw happens Greece would advance. Mediterranean teams can easily outperform and beat calm, level-headed Scandinavian teams. This is my opinion of course, the atmosphere in Athens would look like hell to Danish players.anty1975 wrote:In terms of strength

Worst draw for Greece would be Italy (solid defence) or Croatia (another Mediterranean and with more quality)
I saw Greece in qualifying they are poor I would be fairly confident for Denmark in case of this draw they have a lot more quality.kaerin wrote:anty1975 wrote:In my humble opinion, if your draw happens Greece would advance.
