(It's an unofficial website.)
Thank you! I expected it would be official somewhere, with an explanation of how the ranking is done. Anu idea, how it works?

Here's an official press release in German:
https://www.fernsehgelder.de/pdf/201611 ... uessel.pdf

Difficult to explain in English but the most important column ("Bestand") accounts for 70% of the money. This is the actual 5-year ranking, where the most recent season has a factor of 5 and the oldest season has a factor of 1. The No.1 team of the Bundesliga gets 5.8% from this pot, while No. 18 gets 2.9%. No.1 of the 2.Bundesliga gets 1.69%, No.18 gets 0.75%.

The "Wettbewerb" column, which accounts for 23% of the money, is similiar. But e.g. the Top 6 of the Bundesliga all get an equal share from that pot, etc.

So, the "Glubberer"s from Nuremberg get a futher extension of their season. Playoff 2/3 it is.
Just like yesterday in BuLi: No help provided by eternal enemies. The Franconians only relegated from BuLi last season.
I don't see how they could win any of the thinkable opponents. It is sad to see such a club fading from top tiers. Again. Like K'lautern and 1860 recently.

But there is no surprise really, just you look at the 'famous' records 1. FC Nürnberg holding:
- only club relegated the most times from 1. Bundesliga: 9
- only club relegated as defending Bundesliga champions: 1968/69 (also the 1st time)
- only club relegated from BuLi as current cup winners: 2007/08

They have been in 3rd tier only once: 1996-97, a regional league back then.

Thanks again! I found this in English https://www.bundesliga.com/en/news/Bund ... 424720.jsp which is quite an expansive description of how the money is split, but I can't still find how the 5-year ranking of the clubs is made. I'm interested as I want to be able to calculate it by myself?
Are the clubs given points depending on the final ranking, something like 1st in 1.BL - 36 points, 2nd - 35 .... 18th in 2.BL - 1 point which are then multiplied by the weight factor and then summed up?
Or is it the number of points they have gathered during the season added together of course converted by a scale to distinguish between the 1.BL and the 2.BL?
Or is it a sort of a complex combination of the two?

For the by far biggest chunk of money, it works exactly like that. From 36 points for the Bundesliga champions down to 1 point for the 2nd Bundesliga rock bottom. Which is computed for the last 5 season with the most recent season multiplied by 5, the others by 4, 3, 2, 1.
