Update concerning the relegation group status
The plan of the league committee is as follows. July 16 players in Karviná will be tested, if there will be no new infections, the relegation group will restart July 23, final round should be played on July 26 with the relegation playoff dates being July 29 and August 1.
In any case, July 17 is the meeting of the whole league where the situation will be discussed, in particular it will already be known what is the status of players in Karviná after the tests on July 16.
Also recall that August 22 is the announced start of 2020/2021 league season, so clubs playing relegation playoff will have only three weeks to prepare for the start of the league.

Title group round 5
July 8: Slavia Praha - Sparta Praha 0:0
July 8: Plzeň - Liberec 4:0
July 8: Jablonec - Ostrava 1:1

Europa playoff final leg 2
July 7: Bohemians - Mladá Boleslav 2:1 (2:4 on agg.)

Highlights of this round
- Jablonec only drawed with Ostrava, but this was still enough to move to N4 and therefore to EL Q2, since Liberec lost in Plzeň. Liberec rested five players from their starting squad because they were in danger of receiving second yellow in playoffs and therefore missing out the Europa playoff match. Plzeň therefore had easier path to victory
- Prague "S" derby was quite good concerning the quality of the game but horribly refereed (on both sides). Slavia was the better team, hitted crossbar twice, wasted some other chances. Still, Sparta is now 10 league matches in a row without a win over Slavia (0-6-4)
- Bohemians played very well against Mladá Boleslav, but when they conceded at the end of first half, the tie was over. Boleslav was very poor after the restart of the league, only to beat both opponents in the playoffs and has now a chance to get to Europa League Q2 through playoff for the second year in a row (last year they won the playoff match in Ostrava)

Title group table after Round 5:
1. Slavia Praha 35 26 7 2 69:12 85
2. Plzeň 35 23 7 5 68:24 76
3. Sparta Praha 35 17 9 9 66:40 60
4. Jablonec 35 14 9 12 48:52 51
5. Liberec 35 15 6 14 55:51 51
6. Ostrava 35 12 11 12 47:43 47

Champions League CHQ3 (possibly CHQ4), Champions League NCQ2, Europa League Q3 (possibly GS), cup winner, Europa League Q2, Europa playoff

Europe playoff

July 12: Liberec - Mladá Boleslav

A single match will decide which of these clubs will enter EL Q2. A personal opinion - this time it would be really cruel if Liberec would lose this match. They were 7 points ahead of Mladá Boleslav at the end of regular season, played tough matches in the playoff against the top of the league, lost the cup final against Sparta (huge mistake by the ref going against them)... In the mean time Mladá Boleslav played one league match less and against not that tough opposition.

After todays win over Vyšehrad, Pardubice are promoted to the first league! Their stadium is however not suitable for the top flight, so they will play their home matches in Mladá Boleslav next season.

It is still unclear, how the rest of the story around promotion and relegation will play out. The possibilities according to current rules are as follows:

1) everything will be played as planned: FNL N2 (Brno) will play against first league N15, FNL N3 (Dukla Praha) will play against first league N14 in the relegation playoff (two legs)

2) the rest of the relegation group will be played but the relegation playoff could not be played: N16 and N15 are relegated directly and FNL N1 (Pardubice) and FNL N2 (Brno) are promoted directly

3) the rest of the relegation group will not be played: no club is relegated, Pardubice are promoted and next season of first league is played with 17 clubs.

Of course other variants are possible subject to validation of the league meeting, in particular the stupid idea of league with 17 clubs can be avoided if clubs themselves will be reasonable.

Europe playoff

July 12: Liberec - Mladá Boleslav 2:0

Well deserved win for Liberec which will enter UEL Q2 next season. Liberec was better this match and would have won even without a strange VAR penalty decision in 89' which yielded second goal of the match.

Apparently, all the coronavirus tests in the Karviná football club made this week were negative, so it seems likely that the season will finish as planned by the league director, i.e. round 34 on July 23, round 35 on July 26, relegation playoff leg 1 on July 29 and relegation playoff leg 2 on August 1.

Clubs who are at N14 - N16 (i.e. Karviná, Opava and Příbram) are really unhappy about it, in particular because next season is still planned to start August 22 and clubs playing relegation playoff will have merely 3 weeks to prepare for the start of next season, in particular players will not have any vacation.

On the other hand of course, Brno and Dukla Praha really want the league to finish in order to have a chance to fight for promotion. The league meeting will take place on Friday (tomorrow) and will decide everything, including the start of next season.

So the league meeting took place today and the result is quite surprising. The relegation playoff has been cancelled. Instead, only the last team of the league this season is relegated, N14 and N15 survive in the league. Top three clubs from the second division (FNL) - Pardubice, Brno, Dukla Praha - are promoted. Next season will be played with 18 clubs, i.e. 34 matches, and the playoffs will not be played at all. FNL will be played with 14 clubs next season.

This is however a solution only for next season and the following year everything will return to "normal", three clubs will be directly relegated, the winner of FNL will be promoted and both leagues will return to 16 clubs.

So, the situation in the relegation group is as follows. Matches to be played:

Round 34
July 23: Opava - Olomouc
July 23: Příbram - Teplice
July 23: Zlín - Karviná

Round 35
July 26: Teplice - Opava
July 26: Olomouc - Zlín
July 26: Karviná - Příbram

While players of Karviná were in quarantine, teams still fighting for survival (Opava, Příbram) spent the break training and preparing and teams already safe (Olomouc, Teplice, Zlín) sent their players to vacation and remaining two matches are for them essentially start of the preseason. This of course raises serious doubts about the fairness of the rest of the league. Not to mention that for example the best forward of Olomouc, Lukáš Juliš, was there on loan from Sparta Praha, the loan already ended and Juliš will start the preseason in Sparta next week.

Not really major news, but quite funny: Following one Prague party with (at least) one girl with COVID, B squads of Sparta Praha and Bohemians and U19 squads of Dukla Praha and Bohemians have now COVID cases... Not affecting any season, since now it is preseason for all mentioned teams, but maybe a hint of things to come during next season...
