English Football 2019/20

Post by Lorric »

New thread for the new season of football in England.

I'm happy to see an English manager managing a big 6 club in Lampard at Chelsea. Interesting move, will they have patience to let him grow at the club, or boot him out with the same ruthlessness as his predecessors if something goes wrong?

United are splurging a lot of money, £50M to get Wan-Bissanka from Palace, and a £70M bid seemingly rejected by Leicester for Maguire. But if Ole has his eye on British players (he got James from Swansea but he's Welsh, the others are English) it will be great to have more English players being elevated into the big 6.

I wouldn't want to shop in the PL for players that aren't transfer listed / out of favour. Everyone has tons of cash, that's why Leicester can turn down a £70M bid and Palace can command £50M for Wan-Bissanka.

The amount of money in English football is absolutely bonkers... It results for example in Matej Vydra (12,2M Eur from Derby to Burnley) being 9th most expensive transfer in history of transfers of czech football players (behind the likes of Nedved, Schick, Rosicky, Cech, Koller etc.), despite him not being even a regular starter for czech NT (and noone really thinks he should be).

That means these 44 clubs start in round 3. This is how the FA-cup works for ages already.

'I'm not strong enough to do this': Twitter user who claimed to be a gay Championship footballer deletes his account the night before he was due to come out... but insists it wasn't a hoax
If you thought for one minute this was real and not some 14 year old having a laugh, then you are even more naive than Jim White. Never believe anything you see from an unconfirmed account on Twitter.

Statistically speaking, it is almost impossible not to have gays among the football players, so this Twitter post is quite credible. Even more credible is that the football big shots don't like the idea of players confessing to be gays, as football is considered a men's game.

Certainly a surprising statement. Time will tell, maybe like Kane, he won't explode into a World class player as early as some others have. He is really good but never mind Messi and Ronaldo, he's not as good as someone like Rooney or Owen was at this age. Or Sterling.

But time will tell. He's only turned 19 a couple of months ago. he's gradually been getting more minutes at City, if he has a breakout season this year at 19 in that team, that would be a hell of an accomplishment.

Never seen him playing, he could be an extraordinary talent, but why not playing for the "A" team then? If a Harry Redknapp or similar "expert" makes a statement like this, OK, but Guardiola who coached Messi and in my opinion if there's no Messi then there's no Guardiola as we know, something must have soured between these two.
