1-0 Logi Tómasson 62'

This was a really frustrating result. Rosenborg dominated both halfs. And was the clearly better team. Especially in the first half. But lacked the final edge to create the major chances and scoring a goal. Strugling to penetrate Strømsgodset's defensive wall.
However, in my opinion. This was a good step forward. It's been a long time since I've seen a Rosenborg team dominate the match in a such way. This gives me some hope towards the rest of the season.

Interesting to note that after round 2 only 4 teams are yet to meet the fate of defeat. The 2 usual suspects, and 2 of the promoted teams - KFUM Oslo and Kristiansund. Is this a coincidence, or will one of the promoted teams have something competitive to offer this season?

More of a coincidence I think. The first round often see a few strange results. And Kristiansund beating Lillestrøm away was for sure one of them. And they met today. But behind the top 3/4 I feel anything can happen this season. And history has shown us that Eliteserien is quite unpredictable. So seeing one of the newly promoted teams in the upper half wouldn't shock me at all.

A bit early to say, but it is always interesting to see what approach newly promoted teams have. Now the difference between bottom half of Eliteserien and Obos-ligaen isn´t that big so most teams don't make any major changes. So far it looks like Kristiansund and KFUM stick to what they know and play the same way as when they got promoted. Fredrikstad looks like they are ready to defend and park the bus more. They got a strong result away against Brann as they managed to be well organized, defend well and play a cynical game.

And looks more and more like a club falling apart. It's been in total chaos during the winter. And needs investors to avoid losing its club licence and going bankrupt this summer. And American investor group has been in talks with the club for about a month now. But still no conclusion.

Another clear step in the correct direction in my opinion. For 70 minutes Rosenborg totally dominated the match. And should have killed it several times. But in the last 20 minutes, the players looked to be more afraid to lose the win that to want to score a second. Even with 10 men HamKam was allowed to get to 3 or 4 major chances at the end. And could easily have stolen a point in the end.
However, overall the match was very positive. And it's really nice to be able to recognize what they're doing from match to match. But we still need to practice to both convert the domination into more and bigger chances. And actually scoring on those chances. Our three goals so far have been two long shots from 25-30 meters. And one counter attack where the winger came alone with the goalkeeper. A first step is of course the fact that Ole Sæter made his first start since January. But he needs to get into match form as well. Still, I'm now more excited to see what this team can do against Bodø/Glimt, Brann and Molde in the next matches. Rather than scared of being totally outplayed.

OBOS-ligaen - Round 3
Vålerenga - Stabæk 1-3
Kongsvinger - Egersund 3-3
Mjøndalen - Start 1-1
Moss - Ranheim 2-1
Aalesund - Lyn 0-3
Bryne - Levanger 0-1
Sandnes Ulf - Raufoss 2-0
Åsane - Sogndal 1-1

Table after round 3

Not the best start to the season for Vålerenga. They seem to have som kind of bad spell on them with playing at home. They've only won 3 out of the last 23 home matches.. On Saturday we'll probably have the biggest match through the whole season in Norway. Not just in OBOS-ligaen. But most likely in Norwegian football as a whole. For the first time since 2009, we'll have a league match between the classic Oslo rivals Lyn and Vålerenga. And because Lyn's current home stadium isn't available until May, it will be played at the national stadium Ullevaal. Ullevaal was Lyns stadium from its opening in 1926 until they were relegated from Eliteserien back in 2009. Having a majority ownership in the stadium until the early 90s. And selling their last shares in 2007. During Lyn's last spell as a regular Eliteserien club between 1999 and 2009. They also shared the stadium with their rivals Vålerenga. Having opened the ticket sales on the 2nd of April, the derby was sold out in less than 48 hours. While the capacity at Ullevaal is usually 27 000. It's limited to 24 600 in this match due to some scaffolding on one of the stands. Still, this will be the most visited match ever in OBOS-ligaen. And most visited league match since Vålerenga - Rosenborg the fall of 2005. It will also be the 6th most visited league match in Norway ever.
And seeing that no other stadium got such a big capacity, nor plans to expand capacity to such numbers. And that neither Vålerenga nor Lyn plays at Ullevaal permanently anymore. It will most likely be the most visited league match in Norway for the foreseeable future. Unless Vålerenga for some reason decides and is allowed to move their home match in August to Ullevaal as well.

Anyways, it will for sure bring out a lot of nostalgic feelings for every Lyn and Vålerenga fan this weekend. During their last spell in Eliteserien, Lyn had a good grip on the derby. Winning 10 and drawing 5 matches between 2002 and 2009 until they lost in the last derby match played in September 2009. And it was often referred to as the derby ghost.

Just great, Tromsø once again has relegation candidate form in a season where they play in Europe.

Well, truth to be told. Tromsø overachieved last year. xG and xP would put them in 5th. 12 points behind the 3rd place. But only a point in front of the 6th to 8th place. So a fall down the table would be expected.

And it's still early. And Tromsø has still only played two matches. The first against a Brann team expected to be an outsider for the title. And they were unlucky not to win vs Haugesund. While Tromsø had a pretty awful preseason, I'd expect to stay clear of the relegation fight.

But things would probably have been way different if not for Bodø/Glimt raiding them over the winter.
