FCSB lost 2 consecutive game. Has won only 1 point in the last 3 games. That what you get when you don't have a coach. The team managed to close the gap to CFR and after actually winning against them there some real chances that we would get a fight for the title. Now CFR is 14 points ahead. This means 7 points in the playoff. Almost impossible to recover only in the playoff in 10 games. All games will be hard there so a good run could change a lot, but the main problem is the quality of the games.

Gaz Metan is continuing losing points (really loosing them the deduction is increasing. they might finish with minus points. I think we already had something like this in other years.

big surprise for me. FC Arges managed to go on a good winning spree in the last matchdays and enter the play-off. Even by beating Botosani in the last matchday. Which means Botosani will miss the play-off, in the last years they were one of the better sides excluding the top3 that actually spend money for players( CFR/Craiova/FCSB). Although I don't think Botosani chances for european football have diminished. They'll still have a different route as well. UTA and Rapid were really spectacular in the beginning but both failed in the end, but it would have been a surprise if they made the playout.

FCSB lost this last matchday against Craiova. So CFR again has a 8 point buffer and FCSB couldn't win the title even if they would win 2 times vs CFR although that is hard to imagine. FCSB did dominate the game vs Craiova, really dominating (at least the 2nd half that I saw), they were a bit unlucky not win, but again they are missing for some time a coach and some efficient players (the owner wants only spectacular ones which he hopes to sell for a lot of money).

Well just realised the thread was wrongly renamed had the years wrong.
I am not a big fan of playoff in leagues. But it does mean that the title fight is interesting until the end.

CFR lost some steam(pun intended).

First 3 places are

CFR 51
FCSB 49
Craiova 45

In the last 3 rounds the top 3 will play among themselvs. So should be some interesting games. FCSB seems to be in best form, but you can never trust a team without a coach. CFR might stil be the most solid team but they are really strugalling to score against the 3 "weaker" teams in the playoff. While Craiova still needs both of the other teams to lose point in order to pas them

Wikipedia says that the 2nd Steaua cannot be promoted and won't play in the promotion play-offs.

What is the reason for this? No license?

CSA Steaua ( the team in the second division). is the romanian army team. They are the owners of the team. The romanian law forbids teams that are owned by state entities to participate in the first divisions. They are trying to workaround it but didn't find a loophole. Would be impossible to see them change the law. In theory they should have let a private company take control and that would have had the right of promotion. They could have been sponsors.

Also to note there are a lot of teams in the 1st division that don't exist with the support from the city council. but the city council is just a sponsor on paper, in reallity they act as if owned by the city council and the mayor of the towns can decide everything. A great opportunity for corruption in most cases and reason why we see a lot of bankrupted teams.

After FCSB stumbled, CFR wins another title. 5th consecutive title. Only Chinezul Timisoara (1921-1927) and Steaua (1984-1989, 1992-1998) managed to win 6 consecutive titles.

This also means Dan Petrescu ties legendary Emerich Jenei(winner of the Champions Cup with Steaua) to 5 title in the first league, so they are now both at the top.

Sepsi OSK just won the Cupa României final aganist Voluntari (2-1 FT) and qualified for ECL-Q2.
As winners of the play-out group, they were set to host runners-up Botoşani in the European play-off semi-final but now Botoşani directly advance to the final at Craiova.

so an update will the season finally.

02 - 56 10 FC FCSB
03 - 48 10 UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA

06 - 27 10 FC ARGES

Play - out:
Pos -Pts M

01 - 42 9 SEPSI OSK
02 - 41 9 FC BOTOSANI
03 - 39 9 FC RAPID 1923
04 - 34 9 U CRAIOVA 1948
05 - 33 9 UTA ARAD
06 - 31 9 CS MIOVENI
07 - 26 9 AFC CHINDIA TARGOVISTE
08 - 23 9 FC DINAMO 1948
09 - -23 9 ACADEMICA CLINCENI*
10 - -46 9 GAZ METAN**

*penalized 30 points
**penalized 50 points.

ECL Games
Normally
Winner of Playout nr. 1 vs Playout nr. 2 would play vs Playoff nr. 3 for the last ECL spot. Spesi having won the Cup and already being qualified to ECL there was only a game between Playout nr. 2 vs Playoff nr. 3:
Universitatea Craiova - FC Botosani 2 - 0

Relegation:
Gaz Metan and Academica Clinceni were directly relegated. Replaced by Petrolul and Hermannstadt (nr. 1 and nr. 2 in Ligue 2 playoff).
Relegation matched were played between playout nr. 7 and nr. 8 vs Ligue 2 playoff nr. 3 and nr. 5 (Steaua vs nr. 4 but doesn't have right to play in Ligue 1):
AS FC Universitatea Cluj - Dinamo AGG 3 - 1
CS Concordia Chiajna - AFC Chindia Targoviste AGG 2 - 2 (Penalties 1 - 4).

So both Ligue 2 teams managed to win the promotion vs the Ligue 1 teams.
Also this means the first time Dinamo is relegated in it's history. Like Steaua both were entered directly in the first league about 70 years ago and never relegated and only played in the first league. Steaua in the mean while was "recreated" in the lower division and has played the lower divisions, but technically has still never relegated on the field. FCSB was also basically created in the first league about 15 years ago "replacing" Steaua and remain the only team that has only played in the first league.

Cup Final
Sepsi OSK - FC Voluntari 2 - 1

European participation:
CL-Q1: CFR Cluj
ECL-Q2: Sepsi OSK, FCSB, Universitatea Craiova
