2022 U17 Women's Euro - Bosnia and Herzegovina

Post by Lorric »

This is now using the same qualifying format I talked about in the U19 equivalent thread.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_UE ... lification

Matches are just starting to be played in this one. England are pot 1 here, so must defend that position against hosts Poland, who are actually ranked 2nd of the pot 2 teams, so 9th overall, with Belgium and Russia also present. These were 2nd and 1st in their pots respectively. England are ranked 3rd. But I don't think it's the group of death, when you have a group with Italy/France/Sweden/Wales. Italy hosting. Good luck Wales, you'll need it!

I notice Bosnia and Herzegovina are involved in the qualifying too, but will still auto-qualify as hosts. So the Czechs must be there in the U19 Euro as well. I'm guessing if the host topped a Round 2 group, the top runner up would also qualify, but they might take 2nd from the host's group.

Russia 2-0 England
Poland 1-0 Belgium

Bad start. Looks like we'll lose our pot 1 status, and have to fight just to make it to round 2.

What happened to Scotland? They are not participating in the group they were assigned to?

Championship will be played on stadiums in Sarajevo, East Sarajevo and Mostar (both). The stadium in East Sarajevo "SRC Slavija" will be reconstructed for the event.

In Round 2 the groups will be formed like
- LgA groupwinner
- LgA second
- lgA third
- lgB promoted (groupwinner or best second)

I didn't read anything about teams from the same lgA group can not be drawn together again, right?

Wow, I forgot about this for a while.

England scraped survival by beating Belgium 1-0, who they beat on head to head to send down. Poland beat England 2-0 and won the group.

Biggest team to get relegated I'd say was Switzerland. Though Belgium was the highest coefficient.

Denmark became the first side to qualify. Our grooup became quite decimated as Russia was expelled, and Belarus therefore also didn't participate. So everything was decided in one match against Greece, in Helsingør. The Danish profile and topscorer Emilia Ásgeirsdóttir scored the game's only goal in a 1-0 victory. She plays for FC Nordsjælland, who also provided four other players to the team and are thereby the biggest club contributor. In recent years, they have started investing a fair bit in their women's academy as well.

Two pics, a brilliant drible, and the goal can be seen on Instagram on the below link:

France beat England 2-1. Looks like our attempt to qualify has failed already. I'm guessing we'll lose to Poland again on MD2 and fight Croatia for League A survival.

Well, England managed to defeat Poland this time, 0-1. So there's a route to the final if Poland beat France. Both of them beat Croatia 5-0, so we should be able to defeat Croatia.

England crushed Croatia 8-0, but France crushed Poland 6-1.

Group 3 is interesting, it ended in a three way tie between Norway, Serbia and Sweden, finishing in that order.

U19 qualifying begins in a few days.
