Promotions and Relegations 2022

Post by EarlofBug »

We can discuss here and use this topic to sum up the promotions and relegations battles to/from the 1st and 2nd divisions in each country.

Any interesting names going down or coming up?

Greece:
Lamia and Apollon Smyrnis will either be directly relegated or qualify for the relegation play-offs (and play against the 'losing-promotion-play-off club' of the second division, probably Veria or Levadiakos).

England:
Fulham FC is very close to being promoted again.

Wales:
Cefn Druids is already relegated. Either Connah's Quay Nomads or Barry Town United will follow them.
Airbus UK is already promoted. Llantwit Major will probably follow them.

Netherlands:

Relegation battle (5 matchdays left):

14.RKC 28 (-15)
15.Fortuna Sittard 26 (-31)
---------------------------------
16.PEC Zwolle 23 (-22)
--------------------------------
17.Willem II 23 (-29)
18.Sparta Rotterdam 22 (-22) *

*: 1 match in hand, in which they only have to play the remaining 6 minutes starting with a 0-1 lead

Promotion battle (3 matchdays left):

1.FC Emmen 77 (+36)
2.FC Volendam 71 (+28)
--------------------------------
3.FC Eindhoven 64 (+24)
4.Roda JC 63 (+29)
5.Excelsior 63 (+25)
6.ADO Den Haag 62 (+25) *
8.NAC Breda 55 (+13)
--------------------------------
9.De Graafschap 51 (+5)
--------------------------------
10.VVV Venlo 44 (-10)

*: 1 match in hand

FC Emmen was promoted last friday and is back after 1 season.

PS: 6 clubs will play in the promotion play-offs. 7th placed Ajax 2 is not eligible. If the 9th placed team will play in the play-offs depends on the winner of the 4th stage. 14th placed Almere City can still win that stage and will then qualify in stead of the 9th placed team.

Belgium: Beerschot return to the 1B Pro League after finishing last in JPL. There will be a 2-legged playoff between the 17th place team in JPL Seraing and the 2nd best team from 1B RWDM for the final JPL place next season

Poland

Ekstraklasa (5 games to go)
Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza, Górnik Łęczna and Wisła Kraków are currently the last three teams (relegation places). Bruk-Bet is 7 points below the last safe place, so they are very close to go down. Górnik and Wisła are still fighting. Zagłębie Lubin, Śląsk Wrocław, Stal Mielec and Jagiellonia Białystok are also involved, Zagłębie and Stal have very difficult schedules in the last matches of the season. Warta Poznań, Legia Warszawa, Górnik Zabrze and Cracovia can mathematically be relegated too. The remaining teams (top 7) are safe.

I liga (6 games to go)
Expect Miedź Legnica to advance to Ekstraklasa soon, as they are 10 points clear above the play-off place (two teams advance directly, places 3-6 participate in play-off and the winner of it advances too). They played one season in Ekstraklasa, but also one season in European football (0-1 and 0-0 vs Monaco in Cup Winners Cup 1992/93). Widzew Łódź, who played many seasons in Ekstraklasa and in Europe, are on the second place, but only 2 points above the 3rd place. Many teams can reach the play-offs, currently teams ranked 3-6 are: Arka Gdynia, Korona Kielce, Chrobry Głogów and ŁKS Łódź.

As I already said, one of the two biggest Macedonian clubs, Pelister, is relegated. They will play the eternal derby with Vardar in the second league. :grin1:

Bournemouth looks good too! They need 3 more wins. They play Nottingham Forest on 03/05/2022, but they may have already been promoted directly by then. They have only played in the PL during 2015-2020 in the past.

Derby County (managed by Wayne Rooney) has been relegated to League One.

All positions have been decided in Wales, as far as relegation and promotion is concerned [ *pending on these clubs obtaining a licence].
Cefn Druids and Barry Town United have been relegated.
Airbus UK and Llantwit Major have been promoted.

There's a lot to be decided in LaLiga and in LaLiga2

Currently relegation spots for the drop from LaLiga are occupied by Alavés, Levante, and Granada, but that could change, at least for Granada, before the day is out.

Promotion spots from LaLiga2 to LaLiga1 are occupied by Eibar and Almería, with promotion playoffs for ONE spot being Valladolid, Tenerife, Girona, and Oviedo. Changes possible this weekend. All teams have six games to go.

There is a very interesting situation in Italy, with three matchdays left. The first two teams go directly to Serie A, play-off from 3rd to 8th

Cremonese 66
Lecce 65
-----------
Monza 64
Benevento 63
Pisa 63
Brescia 62
Ascoli 58
Frosinone 55
-----------
Perugia 52

Crotone with a double relegation in two seasons.

Llantwit Major FC (that finished first in Cymru South) did not obtain a licence, therefore is unable to be promoted to Cymru Premier. Pontypridd Town AFC (that finished second in Cymru South) will be promoted to Cymru Premier instead.

a really good fight for promotion to A ...i'd like to see the passage of 3 different teams than usual, for example Cremonese, Pisa and Monza
