And Jornada 3 starts tomorrow

Fri. 26 Aug.

2000 Albacete 2, Huesca 1 El Alba won in Lugo and tied Burgos in the Carlos Belmonte--good start to the season. Huesca tied at Levante but lost at home to Cartagena. Juanmi gives el Alba the lead at 17'--1-0. A win would lift el Alba to first place, a least for the moment. At 84', Juan Carlos ties for Huesca with a pk--1-1. At 97', el Alba pulls a rabbit out of a hat: Olaetxea scores the winner--2-1 and el Alba indeed leads LaLiga2.

2200 Cartagena 1, Zaragoza 0 Cartagena looks like an "interesting" team to watch--they lost at home to Ponfe but then won at Huesca. Zaragoza sort of picks up where they left off last season: they tied 0-0 at Las Palmas and 0-0 at home to Levante. At 36', still 0-0. And scoreless at the half, as have been all of Zaragoza's games thus far this season. Well, Zaragoza fails to score for the third game in a row, but this time their opponents break the ice: Pablo de Blasis scores at 82' to give Cartagena their second win in a row following their opening loss.

Sat. 27 Aug.

1730 Sporting 0, Burgos 0 New season, and Sporting starts out well :!: --they tie at Mirandés and crush Andorra in the Molinón. Burgos beats Málaga and then ties at Albacete. Scoreless first half in the Molinón. And scoreless second half. Sporting misses a great chance to move up in the standings.

1930 Lugo 1, Leganés 0 Lugo loses at home to Albacete but then ties at Tenerife. Lega starts with two losses: at home to Alavés and away to Oviedo. At 28', Josep Señé gives Lugo the lead--1-0. First win for Lugo, as they hold on to win by a goal.

1930 Mirandés 1, Málaga 3 Mirandés ties Sporting and then loses at Alavés. Málaga loses in Burgos and then collapses at home to Las Palmas; this leaves them dead last with no points and no goals scored, five goals conceded :fingal: :!: At 45'+2', Javi Jiménez gives Málaga their first goal of the season and their first lead--0-1 at the half in Anduva. At 51', Rubén Castro makes it 0-2 for Málaga. At 74', Raúl García converts a pk to put Mirandés on the board--1-2. But at 76', Fran Sol makes the lead two goals again--1-3. First win for Málaga, surely out of the last spot in the standings.

2200 Levante 2, Tenerife 0 Levante has two 0-0 ties to date. Tete lost at Eibar and tied Lugo at home--not the start they wanted :!: Cantero scores at 34' to give Levante the lead--1-0 at the half. Mustafi makes it 2-0 for Levante at 82', and that's the final.

Halfway plus through Jornada 3, we finish the jornada today and tomorrow

Sun. 28 Aug.

1730 Racing 0, Oviedo 1 Racing has lost both their games to date by 2-0 margins. Oviedo has won 1-0 and lost 0-1. Scoreless first half in the Sardinero. A pk by Borja Bastón at 53' decides the game.

1930 Eibar 1, Ponferradina 0 Eibar has four points in two games. Ponfe has won at home and on the road. They were second on GD back of Granada at the end of Jornada 2. At 45'+1`, Blanco Leschuk gives Eibar the lead--1-0 at the half. And 1-0 is the final, which means that Eibar passes Ponfe in the standings.

2200 Ibiza 1, Alavés 1 Ibiza has lost both of their games to date, going down 0-2 to leaders Granada and 2-1 to second-place Ponfe. Alavés has two one-goal wins thus far, which is good for third place after Jornada 2. At 10', Suleiman gives Ibiza the lead--1-0. Luis Rioja ties it for Alavés at 54'--and 1-1 is the final, which knocks Alavés out of a first-place tie, assuming that Granada wins on Monday. Should Granada lose, , Alavés could occupy the top spot alone or share it with other(s).

Mon. 29 Aug.

2000 Granada 3, Villarreal "B" 0 Granada has won both of their games to date by 2-0 scores, which is good enough to lead the league after Jornada 2. Villarreal's "B" team has a win and a tie to date. Myrto Uzuni scores for Granada at 1' and with a pk at 12'--2-0, and Granada looks to be on their way to first place all by themselves :!: And it's halftime in the Nuevo los Cármenes. Uzuni converts another pk for Granada at 78'--3-0. That's the final, and Granada is all alone atop LaLiga2 :!:

2200 Las Palmas 2, Andorra 0 The Canaries tied at home against Zaragoza, but they won 0-4 at Málaga, good enough for fourth place after Jornada 2. A win here would lift Las Palmas to second place. Andorra come in 14th, with a win and a loss to date. At 26', Marc Cardona gives Las Palmas the lead--1-0; Las Palmas at the moment is in second place :!: And it's halftime in the Estadio Gran Canaria. It does seem odd to see a team called Andorra playing in the Spanish league based in Andorra when there is already a league there.

The situation in England although comparable where teams based in Wales play in the English league is due to the early formation of the league combining English and Welsh clubs.

Has the same thing happened with Andorra, are they in this league for historical reasons

I'm really not up with the politics involved, especially since the days of the pandemic began. Piqué of Barça is the owner of the Andorra team . . . surely that couldn't have anything to do with it :!: :grin1:

Jornada 4 starts on

Fri. 2 Sept. 2100 Leganés 2, Eibar 1 Lega is off to a horrible start, having lost each of their three games to date by one goal. Eibar has two wins and a tie to lie in third place, back of second place on GD. Can Lega get something at home against one of the favorites :?: Nyom breaks the ice for Lega at 44'--1-0 at the half. Arnáiz makes it 2-0 at 89'; Nolaskoain cuts the margin to 2-1 at 91'; Eibar has what woulda been the tying goal disallowed at 93'--and 2-1 is the final. Lega moves up a few places; Eibar, at the moment, falls to sixth.

Sat. 3 Sept.

1400 Alavés 1, Las Palmas 1 Great game to start off on Saturday :!: Each has two wins and a tie to date, Las Palmas in second place on GD. At 23', Abde scores to lift Alavés into the league lead, at least for the moment--1-0. Halftime in Mendizorroza. At 53', Marc Cardona ties for Las Palmas--1-1. That's the final; Las Palmas remains in second place for the moment; Alavés remains tied for third.

1615 Villarreal "B" 3, Mirandés 0 Villarreal's "B" team started with a win in Santander, but got a tie at Eibar and a loss at Granada. Mirandés has one point. The mini-Sub wins with goals by Adrián del Moral at 43', Miguel Angel Leal at 76', and Thiago Ojeda at 88'--3-0 the final.

1830 Ponferradina 1, Sporting 3 Ponfe won their first two games, but then lost at Eibar; they're currently in seventh place. Sporting has won one and tied two to date. Juan Otero scores at 18' to give Sporting the lead--0-1. At 23', José Gragera makes it 0-2 for Sporting, and thus it stands at the half in El Toralín. At 70', Agus Medina scores for Ponfe--1-2. At 93', Gio Zarfino pretty much ices the win for Sporting--1-3. Sporting wins it--are they going to be competitive this season :?:

2100 Tenerife 1, Racing Santander 0 Tenerife starts with a horrible schedule, losing at Eibar and Levante; they tied at home against Lugo. Racing is dead last, with three losses to date; they may be headed right back to a lower level. Scoreless first half in the Heliodoro. Borja García scores at 55' what proves to be a winner and lifts Tete out of the drop--1-0 the final.

Sun. 4 Sept.

1400 Andorra 1, Granada 0 Andorra won in Oviedo but then lost at Sporting and Las Palmas. Granada, although it's VERY early, looks like a runaway winner--they've won at Ibiza and at home to Racing and Villarreal "B," scoring seven goals and conceding none to date. At 5', Andorra takes the lead on a goal by Iván Gil at 5'--1-0 at the half. Can Andorra beat the leaders :?: Yes, they can and did :!: Granada will, however, stay in first place unless Albacete wins later at Málaga.

1615 Málaga 1, Albacete 2 "Interesting" game, as Málaga started with two losses but then came to life with a 1-3 win at Mirandés. Albacete has two wins and a tie to date; they are tied for 4/5 on GD. At 4', Higinio gives el Alba the lead; at 6', Manu Fuster makes it 0-2 for the visitors, who will lead the league if they win. But at 17', Escassi makes it 1-2. Can el Alba win this big game :?: They're still ahead at the half :!: And they hold on to win and go top :!: :!:

1830 Burgos 1, Cartagena 0 Burgos has a 1-0 win and two scoreless ties to date. Cartagena is sixth, with two one-goal wins following a one-goal home loss to Ponfe. At 45'+1', Alex Bermejo converts a pk to give Burgos the lead--1-0 at the half. And 1-0 is the final.

1830 Huesca 3, Ibiza 0 Huesca has a tie and two one-goal losses to date. Ibiza also has one tie and two losses. Kevin Carlos scores at 15' to give Huesca the lead--1-0. And halftime in El Alcoraz. At 59', Marc Mateu converts a pk for Huesca--2-0. Kanté makes it 3-0 at 86'.

2100 Zaragoza 1, Lugo 2 Zaragoza has two scoreless ties and a 1-0 loss to date--seems as though they just continue their pattern from last season. Lugo has a win, a tie, and a loss to date--a pattern familiar to them from previous seasons. At 45'+2', Giuliano Simeone gives Zaragoza the lead with their first goal of the season--1-0 at the half. At 56', Chris Ramos ties for Lugo--1-1. And the scorer of the tying goal for Lugo finds the winner at 97' :!: This leaves Zaragoza as the top of the drop :!:

Mon. 5 Sept. 2100 Oviedo 1, Levante 1 Oviedo has two 1-0 wins and one 0-1 loss; six points are good for eighth place with a GD of only +1. Levante will want to win promotion this season; they've started with a win and two ties to date. A win would lift either of these two into the top six. At 16', Sergi Enric gives Oviedo the lead--1-0. If this result holds, Oviedo would climb to third place, back of second-place Las Palmas on GD. Halftime in the Nuevo Carlos Tartiere. At 50', Vicente Iborra ties for Levante--1-1, which proves to be the final score. This result leaves Oviedo in 10th place with seven points and Levante a place and a point back of Oviedo.
