Kuala Lumpur: The final cast of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 will discover their Group Stage opponents on Friday, December 15, 3pm during the official Final Draw ceremony at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur.

Eight teams will feature at the 11th edition of the tournament, which is set to be hosted by Uzbekistan for the first time and scheduled to run from March 3 to 16, 2024.

The first of two qualifying rounds began with 28 sides in March this year and the process concluded in June with the field whittled down to a quartet of teams: Australia, China PR, Chinese Taipei and Vietnam. They will be joined at the final tournament by the three highest-seeded teams from the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 – Japan, DPR Korea and Korea Republic – as well as Uzbekistan, who automatically qualified as hosts.

China PR, DPR Korea, Japan and Korea Republic are the only teams to have qualified for every edition to date and also to have lifted the trophy at least once each. Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei’s qualification ends a five-edition absence, with their last involvement taking place in 2009.

As the Host Association, Uzbekistan will be seeded first for the draw, with the remaining teams ranked by their performances at the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019. The teams will be divided equally into two groups to contest a single-round league format, with the top two finishers in each group qualifying to the Semi-finals. The seedings are as follow:

Pot 1 (Ranked 1st and 2nd): Uzbekistan, Japan
Pot 2 (3rd and 4th): DPR Korea, Korea Republic
Pot 3 (5th and 6th): Australia, China PR
Pot 4 (7th and 8th): Vietnam, Chinese Taipei

The top four teams at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 will qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2024, which is slated to begin on August 31, 2024 in Colombia.

Kuala Lumpur: The AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 has all the ingredients to be a thriller following the official draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday.
The eight teams were divided into two groups for the March 3 to 16, 2024 tournament.
Hosts Uzbekistan, seeking to win the title for the first time, were drawn in Group A. Standing in the Central Asian side's way will be two-time winners Korea Republic, Australia and Chinese Taipei, the 2002 runners-up.

Japan, who won the AFC U19 Women's Championship six times, lead the Group B cast. Looking to deny them a place in the semi-finals will be 2007 winners DPR Korea, 2006 champions China PR and Vietnam.

The top four teams at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 will qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Colombia 2024.

FIFA Council appoints Chile and Poland as hosts of FIFA youth competitions

Chile to host FIFA U-20 World Cup 2025™ and Poland to host FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026™

Framework for training compensation system for women’s football approved


The FIFA Council met ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup 2023™ semi-finals in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with youth competitions an important item on the agenda, as Chile was unanimously appointed as the host of the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2025™ and Poland as the host of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026™.

“Since 1962, Chile has organised FIFA events at the highest level, most recently the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2015. The country’s organisational experience coupled with the passion of the Chilean fans will provide a fantastic setting for the stars of tomorrow,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

“Poland is a country with a magnificent football tradition and hosted a memorable edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019, in which emerging stars like Erling Haaland made a great impression. Hosting the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026 will be a new milestone in Poland’s football history and one that will boost women’s football in the country and across the world.”

The slot allocation for both the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2025 and the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026 are the same as each other and remain unchanged from the previous editions of both competitions: AFC: 4; CAF: 4; Concacaf: 4; CONMEBOL: 4; OFC: 2; UEFA: 5; host country: 1.

As part of FIFA’s efforts to further professionalise the women’s game, the Council also approved the governing framework for a training compensation system for women’s football in order to encourage the development of youth players, protect the investment of the training clubs and contribute to the competitive balance and sustainability of women’s football.

FIFA will subsequently draft the relevant regulations, and a task force will be established to finalise the technical details.

With the objective of modernising the applicable regulatory framework for national dispute resolution chambers and to provide clarity and the necessary legal certainty with regard to their jurisdiction and structure, the FIFA Council approved the National Dispute Resolution Chamber Recognition Principles and its Annexe 1 (National Dispute Resolution Chamber Standard Regulations – 2023 edition).
