Irish Season 2023

Post by Svenska_Eire »

League of Ireland starts on the 17th February.

Front runners

Shamrock Rovers - Shamrock Rovers are going for their 4th title in a row and after reaching 20 last season and gaining their 2nd star they'll be favourites to make a start on claiming star 3 this season.

Derry City - The Candystripes ran Shamrock Rovers for the majorty of last season and won the Cup last season and will be looking to win their first title since 1997.

Outsider

Dundalk & St Patrick's should be battling it out for 3rd place all season. For me St Patrick's look stronger on paper to finish 3rd.

Also rans

Bohemians, Shelbourne and Sligo Rovers - All three look to be far too strong on paper to be anywhere near the relegation fight but don't have the quality to be in and among the relegation spots. though Sligo always seem to pull good seasons out the bag and will be desperate for another shot at europe having beaten Motherwell in this seasons Europa Confernce League.

Relegation candidates

Cork City - Cork City are back in the Premier Division after a few years of finical hardship they were fan owned but the club has now been sold to a business man in Ireland who has plans to have them back competing at the right end of the table within a couple of seasons.

Drogheda United - Drogheda are always your provincle yo-yo team who were 3rd worst last season and saved in part by how awful Finn Harps and UCD were.

UCD - UCD always find it tough at this level being a team made of mostly students from UCD University. expect to be struggling once more this season.
