With the first goal the game started to become entertaining and it was close until the end, even though the football quality was far from top class of course. In Lyonnais' game I predicted 1-1 in the EL final after 120 minutes (but with Roma as penalty winner, I forgot about Bono) and 2-1 West Ham after 90 or 120 minutes in the ECL final. So lets see if the CL final will end 2-0 for City, too. Annoying finals so far for Italy and in the CL it's the most unlikely final win. Winning the ECL final would have been only a little consolation prize anyway, they already won it a year ago and it's only the third trophy, so losing the EL final this way was clearly more bitter, obviously.

West Ham fans belting out the words to We Are The Champions. I'm not sure if I've actually seen that before. Normally the song just plays when teams win things, the fans don't sing along with it. :)

You can't have seen many trophy wins cause I've never known a crowd to not feel compelled to join in with that song after winning a cup 😂

I'm pleased for Moyes but the West ham fans didn't deserve it after their behaviour during the game.

Maybe I've just not noticed it.

Let us prepare - likely - to 0 out of 3
Inter will have to just take that cup.

That's probably the best ever percentage for any team, right?
In 2020 Bayern won all European matches. But it was Covid season and they only played 11 games to win the Champions League. That's the only 100% record. The previous record (88.88% was held by Dynamo Kyiv and PSG in Cup Winners' Cup but with only 9 games played.

ECL-PO excluded (= 13 matches), West Ham has a 92.3% winning record, so they are now second to Bayern.

Real Madrid (2014) and Barcelona (2015) have the record (84.16%) for a full Champions League season (13 games).

Atlético Madrid in Europa League 2012 has the record (86.67%) with the most games played (15).

Congrats to Gent for being the only European club to take a point to West Ham. And they actually had deserved to win it.

Unlikely. The probability of italian clubs losing the 3 trophies were around 5%. So, unlikely Inter will lost too.

Where do you get 5% from? I don't think they were favourites in any match, and if they were equal in every match, it would be 12.5%.

5% right now must be the chances of Italy winning 1 cup, the chances of Inter.
Still I have hope on those 5%

Originally it was 20% or 25%.
But now it is 90%. It is conditional probability. What probability that all 3 Italian teams will loose, given that Roma and Fiorentina lost?
Hope for more partecipants in the next Prediction Game

I'm also looking forward to seeing what you @Dragonite have to say about them in your EL predictions next season. I've seen you predicted a 1-0 West Ham win in every KO game, so it looks like they've finally made a believer out of you! :smile1:
At the beginning of the season I didn't trust them - my prediction was that they wouldn't progress from their group.

Then in the KO stages I expected them to advance against AEK Larnaca and Gent.

Then in the semis I wasn't even going to predict anymore, I only did it because @monsterowned and @Undisputed came back in that week after missing the previous two, so there was a risk that I could be relegated from D1 if I lost my match and the two players behind me won theirs and monsterowned wasn't relegated.

Actually I still don't know if these guys are relegated or not, I think they should be. @Lyonnais , you're the organizer, what's your decision? Missing 2 round ands and disappearing at half-time of the third is enough for disqualification or not?

Anyway, I didn't think that much about West Ham vs AZ Alkmaar or in any of the other 5 semifinal clashes. Perhaps if I actually did my choice would have been different.

And then yesterday in the final again I didn't think that much. My opponent @bbi picked Fiorentina, so I "had to" pick West Ham.

West Ham also had a better season than Fiorentina, so it wasn't just that.

I don't know yet what will be my expectations about West Ham next season, I need to have a look at their squad, their manager, do the same for their opponents, etc.

I still need to digest this season, watch some national teams football too, and then in some weeks I'll start focusing on the 2023/2024 season.

To be honest i think the extra time was correct, there was at least 2 minutes wasted time during the goal celebrations.
and afterwards west ham timewasted whenever they had a chance as they should of course, but i saw the referee showing his watch whenever that happened, meaning he would keep more extra time.

All in all , while fiorentina was better , their defence made terrible mistakes which west ham was able to take adnvatage of.
I think it was about correct too. There was also a VAR check on whether the late goal was offside or not which slightly went into the added time.

Well done to West Ham. I think it was one of the rare occasions when bookmakers didn't exaggerate the chances for the English team.

Even a broken clock is right twice per day.

West Ham had a lot of help from referees during its entire campaign.

To me the main reason why West Ham won the Conference League wasn't even that. Villarreal would be the winner now if Unai Emery was still in charge. When he left and Quique Setién replaced him they self-destructed. With Unai Emery they were 100% victorious, and without him they couldn't win a single game! :dontknow:
