2024 Women's U17 EURO finals draw

https://www.uefa.com/womensunder17/news ... w-tuesday/

The UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship final tournament draw will be at 11:00 CET on Tuesday 26 March at Lund City Hall.

Qualified for finals

Belgium, England, France (holders), Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden (hosts)

The draw, to be made by tournament ambassador Victoria Sandell Svensson, will split hosts Sweden and the seven teams that come through round 2 of qualifying into two groups of four. Sweden will be automatically placed in position 1 of Group A.

The finals run from 5 to 18 May. Matches will be played at Malmö Idrottsplats in Malmö & Klostergårdens Idrottsplats in Lund, with Group A on 5, 8 and 11 May and Group B on 6, 9 and 12 May, with one game each day at both venues.

The top two in each section will progress to the semi-finals on 15 May, with the decider to follow in Malmö three days later.

The finals will also act as UEFA's qualifier for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, with three European teams to earn places in the Dominican Republic for the tournament from 16 October to 3 November. The two beaten semi-finalists will play off on 18 May in Lund for the right to join the two finalists in the World Cup.

Well that certainly looks lopsided. The three teams Spain got didn't go over anybody surprising to get here.

France managed to go over Germany in Germany and Spain went over the Netherlands in the Netherlands so they certainly made a statement doing that. Norway had Sweden in their group, but Sweden finished bottom.

The three U17WWC spots: Spain are big favorites to get one of them, and realistically the four teams in Group A will fight for the other two.

Not sure what is the deal with Sweden in the last qualifying round. Whether they are actually not very good, or are just playing reserves since they already have an automatic place in the finals. I know they got relegated, but almost certainly won't hurt qualifying for 2025 U17 Women's Euros since they should easily win promotion in 2024/25 round 1 (although they will get a bad seed for the 2024/25 round 2).
