Never called Van Gaal a hack (don't even know the real meaning in this context), wacko yes. Bellingham, Sancho, Saka, Grealish etc.
It wasn't a literal quote. Rather, he's a considerably prestigious manager that you've implied is incompetent and not worthy of the Manchester United job, therefore he would be a hack.

And @Lorric is right: player for player, the so-called golden generation was better. These guys were all generational players for their clubs. Only Kane fits that bill from the current crop. Saka and Bellingham could be, but time will tell.

And I've missed Foden, possibly the most talented among all.

Bellingham definitely fits the bill. Massively important for Real Madrid and Dortmund before them. Arguments could be made for Rice as Arsenal doesn't have a player who's THE guy and he's important for them, and the Manchester City guys who play nearly every game (Foden, Walker, Stones) as even though they're not the big three, they're very important to Pep's team, and that team is one of the finest in the World, some would say the finest. They certainly were last season.

Fernandes makes it's 3-0 with a deflected goal. Looks like we have a Manchester derby final.

Forest owner Marinakis probably confused the Premier League (where most referee mistakes are due to incompetence) with the Greek Super League (where most of the mistakes are on purpose because of allegiances to an rival mafia) and Forest tweeted that the VAR referee in Goddison Park is a Luton fan, didn't give them 3 penalties, and made some vague threate against PGMOL.

Looks like Aston Villa will play CL football next season, Spurs have a difficult run in. Then Tottenham play EL and MU, Chelsea and Newcastle will fight for the remaining 2 European spots. West Ham are probably out of the race.
