Ludogorets realized a record transfer in Bulgaria

Image

Ludogorets sold striker Igor Thiago to Belgian club Club Brugge for a record breaking transfer fee for Bulgaria. The 12-time champions retain a percentage of the rights to the Brazilian, who scored 21 goals in 55 appearances for the Eagles in all competitions. Brugge, who reached the round of 16 in the last edition of the Champions League, will today officially announce the deal and introduce Igor Thiago.

"I remain the biggest fan of Ludogorets. I am parting with many friends in the city, whom I hope to see again one day. I had a great time in Ludogorets and I am happy that I became a champion twice and won more cups," said Igor Thiago.

The Brazilian was introduced to Ludogorets in February 2022 by Brazilian giant Cruzeiro. In less than a year and a half, Igor Thiago showed great efficiency by scoring 21 goals and making 11 assists in 55 games (3290 minutes).

Ludogorets signed with a German defender

Image

Ludogorets completed its first summer transfer. The 12-time champions have signed German left-back Marcel Heister. On Monday evening, Ludogorets and MOL Fehervar, where Heister last played, finalized the deal. The defender arrives as a free agent and will not be paid a transfer fee. In the meantime, the German successfully passed the medical examinations and fitness tests, joining the team at the camp in Bansko on Tuesday morning. Heister already had his first training session with the Eagles, after which he was officially introduced by coach Ivaylo Petev.

Bulgarian champion Ludogorets lost to the leader of Kosovo - Ballkani, in a match of the first qualifying round of the Champions League - 0:2.

The first shot of the match was made by Aslak von Witry after only a few seconds of play, but it was not accurate. Then Kiril Despodov broke through the center of the Kosovar defence, but was blocked just before passing to Tissera. The hosts had their first shot in the 17th minute, with Kuch finding a gap in the defence, but it was not accurate. Five minutes later after a short corner the ball ricocheted into Kiril Despodov, but fortunately Sergio Padt was prompt and cleared. In the 23rd minute, the Balkan players requested a penalty for a handball on Franco Russo, but the referee, Guy Leibovitz, judged that there was no reason to point to the penalty spot.

Ivaylo Petev received bad news after about half an hour of play. Right back Aslak von Witry suffered an injury and was replaced by Gonzalo Avila-Pipa. In the 34th minute, Gripshi shot dangerously, but was again not accurate.

Ballkani took the lead in the continuation of the first part. After another breakthrough from the left of the home attack, the ball was sent to the other flank, where Korenica shot, the ball ricocheted into Marcel Heister and became unsaveable for Sergio Padt.

At the beginning of the second half, Ballkani could have scored a goal, as Padt saved Gripshi's shot. It happened in the 55th minute. Then, after committing a foul, Zyuba was completely forgotten at the second post and headed the ball between the legs of Sergio Padt. In the 62nd minute, the Dutch guard made a great save after denying Kuch who came against him.

Ludogorets made his first accurate shot in the 68th minute. Then, after a cross from a corner, Naressi headed in, but Kulici nailed the ball on the goal line. In the 84th minute, the Eagles made their best attack of the game as Gonsalves back-heeled Dominik Yankov, but his shot hit the post.

The second game is next Wednesday in Razgrad at 21:00.

What is going on at Ludogorets? They're off to a bad start this season, in Europe and 20 minutes into the new league.

They were up against decent opposition and two teams that weren't going to beat themselves.

Ludogorets won against Ballkani

Image

Ludogorets won against Ballkani 4:0 and qualified for the second round of the Champions League. There, Ivaylo Petev's players will meet Olimpia Ljubljana, who eliminated Latvian Valmiera with a total score of 4:2. Bernard Tekpetey scored two goals for the definitive success, and Matias Tissera and Caio Vidal added one each.

Ludogorets took the lead with their first good opportunity. In the 4th minute, Aslak von Witry crossed sharply from the right, a Ballkani player latched onto the ball, thus making it comfortable for Tekpetey, who opened the scoring with a header. Ten minutes later, Matias Tissera made a big miss. He was left alone against the visiting goalkeeper, but shot straight at him.

In the 37th minute, Claude Gonsalves sent the ball towards Colucci's goal, which somehow saved. However, there was nothing to save the guard in the 45th minute. Then, after another cross from the right by Von Witry, the ball reached Tekpetey, who with his left foot poked the ball between the legs of Colucci - 2:0! In the first seconds of the second half Dominik Yankov beat the visitors' goalkeeper but the ball was knocked out by a defender from the goal line.

In the 49th minute Ludogorets scored a third goal. Mathias Tissera was accurate, who punished a gross mistake in the Ballkani defense. 12 minutes before the end, the Eagles put an end to the dispute - the reserve Caio Vidal was accurate for 4:0.
