The Viaplay Cup group stage draw has already been made and kicks off on 15 July, featuring all SPFL teams except the five European representatives, who will join in the second round. Brechin City and Cowdenbeath, from the Highland and Lowland leagues respectively, make up the numbers in the group stage.

------------------------------------

Another Edinburgh team joins the SPFL: The Spartans gained promotion to SPFL League 2, winning the playoff.

------------------------------------

The SPFL fixtures for the 2023/24 season are released on 30 June.

Why did they let Cowdenbeath in? They were only 15th in the Lowland League. That place should have gone to University of Sterling.

I found that odd as well. It can't be a licensing thing, surely?

It's official then, Hampden won't be upgraded.

It was a huge mistake having the running track style stadium when it was built in 1999. Easy to say that in hindsight but it should have been obvious at the time. What I don't get is why Hampden could have been rebuilt as part of a successful World Cup bid, but not a European Championship one...

The cost is ridiculous to be fair, it's disappointing though cause the stadium is horrendous

FC Edinburgh have approval from the SFA to return to their original name of Edinburgh City FC. They renamed in the first place following a dispute over ownership of the name with the bowling club from which the football club originated.

-------------

Rumours about the SPFL ball manufacturer seem to be true. Long standing supplier Mitre look to be getting replaced by Puma. The Puma logo replaces the Mitre one on the SPFL website.

--------------

The fixtures for the forthcoming season will be released at 9am BST today!

I have to agree with you on the aesthetics but have you seen the price of Man City or Real Madrid shirts recently? Stick another 20 on and you're close!
