crazy evening full of goals... exaggerated scores in my opinion, given the opponents, but obviously deserved!!
Atalanta looked like a mid-table team.

They made only one point in the last two matches (against AC Milan and Internazionale, both away), and against AC Milan they were also a bit lucky maybe.
However, I suppose that for Atalanta, what matters the most at this point, is the next game against Bologna (an head to head for the 4th place in Serie A) and the double match against Sporting in EL.

A good news, after more than a month we have the real table available, all the teams with the same number of games played. It wasn't like this until today due to that stupid supercup in Saudi Arabia.

A very important matchday ahead:

Lazio - Milan
Monza - Roma
Torino - Fiorentina
Atalanta - Bologna
Napoli - Juventus
Verona - Sassuolo
Empoli - Cagliari
Frosinone - Lecce

Atalanta and Bologna are 5th and 4th, Roma, Napoli, Lazio and Fiorentina have to win in order to chase a CL spot, while Torino and Monza have to win at home in order to keep themselves in the european race.
The latter three games involve six teams fighting against relegation. Crucial points at stake everywhere.

An information for non-Italians: Sassuolo have never been so in troublr like now except for the first Serie A year. They are really despised by a good portion of other fans because they play in Reggio Emilia, not Sassuolo (a small city) and have a small fanbase, and are in Serie A only due to a rich property. Let's say that they are the Italian Hoffenheim.
Many Italian football fans are waiting for their downfall, tbh they did a good job over the years especially with developing young players.

Serie A

Atalanta - Bologna : 1 - 2
Sixth consecutive victory for Bologna, while Atalanta made 1 point in the last 3 matches and is now 6th in Serie A behind AS Roma.

Napoli - Juventus : 2 - 1
Napoli overtakes Fiorentina and Lazio in the ranking, and jumps to the 7th position in Serie A.

Ranking after 27 matches: Internazionale 69*, Juventus 57, AC Milan 56, Bologna 51, AS Roma 47, Atalanta 46, Napoli 43, Fiorentina 42, Lazio 40, ...
*Internazionale plays tonight against Genoa.

Serie A

Cagliari - Salernitana : 4 - 2
Some fresh air for Cagliari, while Salernitana is virtually in Serie B.

Sassuolo - Frosinone : 1 - 0
Few more hopes of salvezza for Sassuolo, Frosinone is now in big trouble.

Bologna - Internazionale : 0 - 1
The winning streak of Bologna ended, the one of Internazionale continues.

Genoa - Monza : 2 - 3
Genoa is the only mid table club this season, can Monza fight for a European spot?

Serie A

Lecce - Verona : 0 - 1
Extremely important victory for Verona, that overtakes Lecce and few other clubs; while Lecce is now in a very dangerous zone.

Relegation battle (the last 3 clubs go down in Serie B): Varona 26, Cagliari 26, Empoli 25, Lecce 25, Udinese 24, Frosinone 24, Sassuolo 23, Salernitana 14.

So, between Verona, 13th, and Sassuolo, 19th, there are only 3 points!

Later today:

Milan - Empoli

Juventus - Atalanta

Fiorentina - Roma

Inter are pretty sure to reach their 2nd star (20th scudetto).
Milan and Juve are pretty sure to play CL on next season.
From Bologna 4th to Lazio 9th, six teams will fight for 1 or 2 spots in CL, 2 in EL and 1 in ECL.
Bologna have very good possibility to play CL.

In theory Torino and Monza too can join to the fight, but in my opinion they have very few chance for ECL only.
Hope for more partecipants in the next Prediction Game

Serie A

In the last match of the giornata 28th, played in Rome between Lazio and Udinese, at half time the result is still 0 - 0.

On other news:

"Lecce sack coach Roberto D'Aversa for headbutting Verona striker Thomas Henry after Sunday Serie A loss"

The new coach of Lecce should be either Luca Gotti (more likely) or Leonardo Semplici (less likely).

In the European race nobody won, it's a wasted chance for Napoli, Fiorentina and Lazio.
