Jornada 10 starts

Fri. 6 Oct. 2100 Albacete 0, Levante 2 A win would lift Levante to at least third place . . . for the moment, anyway. Fabricio scores at 20' to give Levante the lead--0-1. Halftime. At 56', Pablo makes it 0-2. That's the final; Levante trails second-place Zaragoza only on GD.

Sat. 7 Oct.

1830 Racing Santander 3, Sporting Gijón 2 At 28', Andrés scores for Racing; at 32', Gaspar ties for Sporting--1-1. And it's still 1-1 at the half. At 48', Peque gives Racing the lead--2-1. At 63', Gaspar scores his second of the game to tie it--2-2. Ekain gives Racing the lead at 83'--3-2. And 3-2 is the final score.

2100 Leganés 0, Oviedo 0 Scoreless first half.. And scoreless second half

Sun. 8 Oct.

1400 Amorebieta 1, Eibar 2 in progress. Amorebieta goes ahead at 8'--goal by Dorrio. Yanis ties at 12' for Eibar--1-1. Halftime. At 92', Aketxe gives Eibar the lead--1-2. And Eibar wins it.

1615 Valladolid 3, Mirandés 2 Scoreless first half. At 51', Durdov gives Mirandés the lead--0-1. Valladolid goes ahead only to see Mirandés tie at 91'; never say die and Valladolid finds a winner at 99.

1830 Ferrol 1, Cartagena 1 in progress. At 40', Real converts a pk to give Cartagena the lead--0-1. Halftime. At 93', Vadillo scores for Ferrol and thus keeps Cartagena from their second win of the season--1-1 the final.

Mon. 9 Oct.

But it ain't over yet--at 41', Puado reduces the lead to 2-1 as he scores from inside the area. And it's still 2-1 at halftime. At 70', Pascual scores his second of the night with a beautiful shot from beyond the area--3-1, and Espanyol better rev it up :!: But they can't, and they'll have to settle for second place for the time being.

Jornada 11 kicks off

Fri. 13 Oct. 2100 Oviedo 3, Albacete 0 Oviedo has climbed out of the drop. Scoreless first half. At 45'+1', Alvaro Rodríguez of Albacete sees a second yellow. Can Oviedo manage a goal and win what is for Oviedo, a big game :?: Oviedo has scored just six goals to date in 10 games :!: Yes, indeed they could and did :!: At 48', Paulino de la Fuente connects with an unstoppable header--1-0. Yes :!:--they could get another--And so quickly-at 53', Borja Bastón heads in and it's 2-0. Unreal :!: At 63', Paulino de la Fuente scores his second of the night--3-0. At 82', Paulino goes out hurt and no subs are left, so it's 10 vs 10 for the last few minutes. And 3-0 is the final, Oviedo's best result of the season to date, and they climb, for the moment, to 13th place.

Sat. 14 Oct.

1615 Mirandés 1, Tenerife 1 Tenerife leads LaLiga2 :!: :applause: :applause: But Tenerife gets no more than a tie, which means that one team could pass them on points in this jornada, and four others could catch them. Alvaro of Mirandés gave his team the lead here at 2'; Angel of Tenerife tied at 43', and the second half was scoreless.

1830 Cartagena 2, Racing Santander 3 Cartagena continues to occupy last place. Racing is 10th, but only six points off the league lead. At 8', Muñoz gives Cartagena the lead; Andrés ties for Racing at 28'--1-1; Peque makes it 1-2 at 39' with a pk, and Ortuño ties it at 45'--2-2 at the half. At 62', Peque scores his second of the day to give Racing the lead--2-3. And that's the final.

1830 Sporting 2, Zaragoza 2 Sporting has dropped out of the top six; Zaragoza is now fifth, two points off the league lead. Marca.com says  Spectacular atmosphere in the Molinón. At 45', Maikel Mesa not only gives Zaragoza the lead--0-1--, he lifts them into first place on GD over Tenerife. Can Zaragoza go home a winner and leading the league :?: Halftime. 20,698 reported on hand, At 76', Iván Azón makes it 0-2, and Zaragoza looks like a winner. But at 86', Campuzano cuts the margin to 1-2. And the ending is . . . well, Zaragoza's goalie pulls a huge blunder, not realizing that Insúa of Sporting is behind him; Insúa steals the ball at 97' and kicks it in to tie the game and knock Zaragoza, for the moment, to third place--2-2 the final in the Molinón.

2100 Espanyol 2, Valladolid 0 Espanyol blew a chance to go top in their last game; as it is, they're second, just one point off the lead. And the way things have gone elsewhere, a win today would leave Espanyol alone atop LaLiga2. Valladolid started poorly, but is now up to sixth place, just two points back of the pacesetters. At 4', penalty awarded to Espanyol. Braithwaite takes the kick at 6', saved by the goalie, but the penalty is repeated because defensive team players enter the area too soon, and at 8', Braithwaite makes no mistake--1-0, and Espanyol is alone atop LaLiga2 . . . if they can go on to win this game :!: At 14', Pacheco makes a great save of Espanyol's furniture . . . and of their lead; still 1-0. At 35', Javi Puado makes it 2-0 for Espanyol. At the half, Espanyol is alone atop LaLiga2, and if they win this game, they're guaranteed the league lead at the jornada's end. 21,439 reported on hand. Espanyol wins it 2-0 and will be atop the league when Jornada 11 is completed on Monday.

Sun. 15 Oct.

1400 Burgos 3, Villarreal "B" 2 Both are in mid-table. Scoreless at the half; game really came to life in the second half--Burgos goals by Matos at 50', Bermejo at 63', and Sierra at 89'; Villarreal goals by Ferrari at 74' and 95'.

1615 Eldense 1, Elche 1 Full time. #15 hosts #14. Scoreless in the first half. At 35', Florín Andone gives Eldense the lead--1-0. At 59', Timor of Eldense scores an own goal--1-1. Elche is now 16th; Eldense is 17th.

1615 Andorra 2, Alcorcón 0 Full time. Alcor is in the drop; Andorra is one point above the drop. Scoreless in the first half. Still scoreless at about 60'. At 79', Lobete scores for the home team--1-0. Alex Calvo scores at 93' to give the home team a 2-0 win. Andorra is now 15th; Alcor is 20th

1830 Eibar 1, Huesca 1 A reborn Eibar has risen to seventh place; Huesca has fallen to next-to-last. As things stand at game time, Eibar would climb to third place with a win, unless Legaanés also wins. But at 38', an own goal by Corpas gives Huesca the lead--0-1. 5,438 reported on hand in Ipurúa. At 71', an own goal by Rubén Pulido ties the score--1-1. Now Eibar is putting on lots of pressure . . . It ends 1-1, just enough for Eibar to end the day in sixth place on GD.

1830 Leganés 6, Amorebieta 0 Leganés is in third place, just two points off the lead. Amorebieta is the top of The Drop. At 21', Miguel de la Fuente gives Lega the lead--1-0. And at 25', Miguel de la Fuente scores again--2-0. At halftime, Lega is in second place, just a point back of Espanyol and ahead of Tenerife on GD. At 50', Miguel de la Fuente completes a hat trick--3-0. At 73', Diego makes it 4-0. At 82', Raba makes it 5-0. At 93', Chico adds another, so the final is 6-0.

Mon. 16. Oct. 2100 Levante 1, Ferrol 0 full time. Levante is fourth, just two points off the league lead. Ferrol is ninth, three points back of the last playoff spot. Update  to reach second place, Levante would have to win by EIGHT goals today. Any win lifts Levante to third place. The game won't be carried here :dontknow: :dontknow:  :!: At 58', Daniel Gómez scores for the home team--1-0. And that proves to be the winner; Levante is indeed in third place, although even on points with second-place Leganés and fourth-place Tenerife, and just one point back of leader Eapanyol. Ferrol is in 11tth place.

Jornada 14 in LaLiga2 begins

Fri. 3 Nov. 2100 Espanyol 2, Eibar 2 #4 hosts #2. Can Espanyol win this game to get back into the top 2 :?: At 6', Bautista gives Eibar the lead--0-1. At 45'+3', Puado ties it for Espanyol--1-1 at the half. At 56', Puado converts a pk to give Espanyol the lead--2-1. But at 95', Puado scores again . . . but this time it's an own goal--2-2, and that's the final score. Eibar remains in second place, while Espanyol climbs to third place--both for the moment, at least.

Sat. 4 Nov.

1615 Villarreal "B" 0, Sporting 3 #18, just 3 points above the drop, hosts #3. At 4', Juan Ferney gives Sporting the lead--0-1. Still 0-1 at the half. At 57', Campuzano makes it 0-2 for Sporting. Cote makes it 0-3 at 72', and Sporting will rise to second place in LaLiga2. And so it has come to pass.

1615 Amorebieta 0, Huesca 1 #19, the top of the drop, hosts #21, which is one point back of #19. Scoreless at the half. Huesca wins, 0-1. I don't have details.

1830 Alcorcón 3, Racing 1 Alcor is in the drop; Racing is #8, two points back of the last playoff spot. Nearing the end of the first half, it's 1-0. Alcor adds a second goal--2-0. . . . and a third--3-0. Nope, apparently still 2-0. And now my source says 3-1. And apparently that's the final.

1830 Cartagena 0, Leganés 3 #22, the farolillo rojo, hosts the pacesetter, #1 Lega. Scoreless nearing the end of the first half. Lega has scored early in the second half--0-1. Lega scores another at about 64'--0-2. And now it's 0-3. And that's the final.

Not saying I'm a curse but apparently just going "Ah good for Zaragoza" at the time page was retroactively a curse weeks ago.
