The key players in big trouble since the start of the season have awaken yes. Lacazette hat-trick vs Toulouse and Anthony Lopes the keeper brilliant vs Monaco.

The team is still sick, so we can expect some setbacks in the future but let's say that the momentum is now better than 3 weeks ago.
Big game at home vs Nantes next Wednesday just before the Christmas break. It will be important to win this one.

The first half of the season ended tonight, it was a very good matchday for Nice, Monaco, Brest and Lyon.

The surprise of the season so far is Brest, i know very little about this team.

XG Analysis

XPts

What would be the table if all goals chances had been converted ?

PSG easily ahead, Nice, Marseille and Monaco in CL, Clermont, Metz and Lorient in trouble
Not much difference with reality Marseille excepted but Marseille suffers from their inefficiency in front (namely Aubameyang, although it's been much better for these last weeks).
The most over-performing team is not surpsingly Brest (who conceded 7 goals less than expected) whereas the most under-performinh team is Lyon (who should scored 10 goals more than they scored) - see below

indeed! Deserved win
Let's expect that the second part of the season starts better than the first part so that we can quickly escape from the dangerous zone.
matt wrote: Thu Dec 21, 2023 00:27 The surprise of the season so far is Brest, i know very little about this team.
Nothing much to say. They bring some fresh and nice air, they seem to be happy to be on the pitch, excellent team spirit, good keeper, strikers in fire, all stars were aligned for them in this first part of the season. Will it last? Not sure, meaning I don't expect them to be European next season but who knows.
They are a very difficult schedule at the start of the season and some are saying that they softened the pre-season work to be more fit than their opponents in the first month. I don't know if it 's true, but it worked as they dod very well and it launched very well the season. They however may pay it in the second half. Wait and see.

Generally speaking, boring and poor season so far and I don't speak only for Lyon. The level which was pretty interesting last season with Lens and Marseille in good shape seriously declined this season. All challengers of PSG ahave their issues. Lens, it's less interesting than last season, Marseille it's less interesting than last season, Rennes and Lyon seriously declined and the other eams like Nice, Monaco or Lille who can generally speaking be satisfied of their first half also have their issues.
To summarize, let me quote Thierry Henry who said recently that to see Nice second of the league with hardly one goal scored per game says a lot about the level of the Ligue 1 this season.

Odds for the title (betclic)

1.25 PSG
10 Marseille

40 Lyon
75 Nice
250 Strasbourg-Reims-Montpellier-Toulouse
500 Lorient-Clermont-Nantes
1000 Brest-Le Havre-Metz

so bookies rank PSG as huge favourite for the title
Marseille expected to grab the second CL spot
Monaco, Lens, Lille & Rennes expected to fight for the other European spots with possibly Lyon or Nice as other contenders
Brest and the 2 promoted teams Le Havre & Metz favourites for the relegation
Updated odds after the 1st part

1.03 PSG
15 Nice
20 Monaco
50 Lille - Marseille
150 Lens
500 Reims-Rennes-Lyon
700 Brest
750 Montpellier
1000 Strasbourg-Toulouse-Nantes
1500 Le Havre
2000 Lorient
2500 Clermont-Metz

Confirmation if needed that only Nice did better than expected. Monaco more or less.
All other challengers (Marseille, Lens, Lille, Rennes, not to speak about Lyon) are under performing
