The L1 starts tonight with Nice-Lille which will be the game of the week.

Odds for the title (betclic)

10 Marseille
20 Monaco-Lens-Lille-Rennes
40 Lyon
75 Nice
250 Strasbourg-Reims-Montpellier-Toulouse
500 Lorient-Clermont-Nantes
1000 Brest-Le Havre-Metz

so bookies rank PSG as huge favourite for the title
Marseille expected to grab the second CL spot
Monaco, Lens, Lille & Rennes expected to fight for the other European spots with possibly Lyon or Nice as other contenders
Brest and the 2 promoted teams Le Havre & Metz favourites for the relegation

Change this season, with 1 additional European spot. And only 18 teams.

Hey Lyonnais, what are your thoughts about this season for OL? I didn't really follow your offseason apart of some Aulas-Textor bickering and weird Blanc declaration.

This surprises me, I was expecting something between 1.50 and 2.00. I mean, with all the issues PSG is facing market wise this summer, and the need to rebuild the squad, I still see them favorites, but not so much favorites. I think that the odds for PSG NOT winning should not be like 5 to 1.

Ligue 1 - MD1

Game of the week

NICE - LILLE 1-1
Laborde 18'; Diakité 90+4'

Lille snatch a draw in Nice
Lille retained possession of the ball and created the most chances. Returning to the game in the final minutes, LOSC took advantage of Nice's tiredness to equalise. Nice, too defensive, facilitated the draw by lacking character in the second half.
(lequipe.fr, google translation)

NICE (4-3-3): Bulka - Atal (Lotomba 46'), Todibo, Dante, Bard - Sanson, Ndayishime, Thuram (Rosario 57') - Laborde (Guessand 57'), Moffi (Boudaoui 80'), Boga (Diop 57')
Coach: F.Farioli
LILLE (4-2-3-1): Chevalier - T.Santos, Ribeiro, Diakité, Ismaily - Baleba (Angel Gomes 61'), André - Virginius (Zhegrova 67'), Cabella (Gudmundsson 80'), Haraldsson (Yazici 80') - David
Coach: P.Fonseca

Man of the match

Bafodé DIAKITE
DC, 22, Lille & France U21
Career: Toulouse - Lille (2022)

I really don't know what to expect.

As Blanc mentioned it, let's wait until the 31st August to see which squad we have.
PSG are pushing for the young Barcola and if we had to let him go, I doubt that we'll find a decent replacement as we have financial constraints from the DNCG (wages have to be capped, so a big transfer fee will not help for this at short term).
Let's also see how signings can adapt themselves to the L1.

Otherwise, friendlies were a nightmare with 4 defeats and 0 goal scored (I don't count the first game vs. an amateur team) but Blanc mentioned the huge physical charge in the pre-season.

On the other hand, we made a decent second part of the season last season. Lukeba excepted (sold to Leipzig), the starting XI has not been changed.

I really don't know.

I agree with you. With all the mess around PSG I don't expect them to be so favourites. They are clearly #1 favourite but not in these proportions in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply!
Which club do you think has the best chance to overtake PSG, if PSG misses the title this season?

Marseille I think (although they’ve changed a lot of things this summer and we don’t know yet whether it will work or not)

Nothing like a home draw to Mbappe being reinstated (it would happen soon or later).
Lyon starting well again...

It’s good to see that you like Clermont. To be honest i don’t know the city but it has not a great reputation (but not that bad neither). It’s above all the city of Michelin.
Clermont is (or used to be) mainly a rugby city as their club is a power house in rugby and the football club had not a real history as they got promoted to L1 for the first time last season.
Football wise they did well last season but we know that the most difficult is to confirm the following season.
