Congratulations Liverpool! :clapping:

Their 5-1 win against Toulouse was the biggest in their EL history, above 4-1 against Benfica in 2010, 4-1 against Steaua Bucharest in 2010, 3-0 against LOSC in 2010 and 3-0 against Villarreal in 2016.

They're also in the longest winning streak in their EL history, for the first time ever they won three consecutive EL matches.

Last but not least, they're accomplishing all this using several players from their academy: Quansah, Chambers, Doak, Scanlon and McConnell were all playing UEFA Youth League for Liverpool last season, and others like Bajcetic, Alexander-Arnold, Jones and Elliott also did it in previous seasons. :D

That 1-5 was also Toulouse's biggest defeat in EL history, alongside a 0-4 defeat against Shakhtar Donetsk in 2009.

Congratulations Union SG! :applause:

They interrupted their winless streak of 4 EL matches (Leverkusen x2, Toulouse and Liverpool) with a win against LASK.

LASK on the other hand lost three consecutive EL matches for the second time, the other was in 2020 against Manchester United x2 and Tottenham.

This will surely be LASK's worst ever result in an EL group, their worst ever was 10 points, now the maximum they can reach is 9.

Liverpool 1.01
Toulouse 17.00
Union St Gilloise 34.00
LASK Linz 501.00

Liverpool are too strong for this group. LASK might be weak, but still have something to play for. Toulouse are favourite for 2nd spot.

Group winner:

Liverpool 1.05
Toulouse 10.00
Union St Gilloise 201.00
LASK Linz 1001.00

Toulouse need a point against Union St.Gilloise in France to be sure of advancing behind Liverpool.

Round 4 was perfect for them. They defeated Liverpool and Union SG lost against LASK.

Now they can secure a top 2 spot with a win in their next match against Union SG, or simply with two draws.

One point is not enough. :nono:

With one point they keep the 3 points lead over Union SG and neutral head-to-head, which means that they postpone the decision to round 6.

Mathematically true, but then Union St.Gilloise must beat Liverpool and Toulouse must lose at LASK and by a single goal won't do, either the Belgians have to win by 2 goals or Toulouse lose by 2 goals.

They won the group, and got another win by four goals difference, this time against LASK.

It was also the second biggest defeat in LASK's EL history, only behind 0-5 vs Manchester United in 2020. The now third biggest defeat was also against English opposition, 0-3 vs Tottenham in 2020.

LASK can still get the third spot here, but they must win their home match against Toulouse and hope that Union SG doesn't win its home match against Liverpool.

1. Liverpool
2. Union Saint-Gilloise
3. LASK
4. Toulouse
Somehow a relegation-level team in France finished above the league leaders of Belgium to take 2nd.

It's the first time that they advance from the EL group stages.

And congratulations Union SG for getting the third spot.

This season, unlike last season, they couldn't advance from their EL group. But at least they have another opportunity in the Conference League.

I was right about Liverpool first and Union SG third, and wrong about the rest.

Initial prediction
1st place is easy to call. After that I would pick LASK to finish last. Union SG v Toulouse for 3rd. I'll go for the Belgians.

1. Liverpool
2. Union SG
3. Toulouse
4. LASK
Actual table
1. Liverpool
2. Toulouse
3. Union SG
4. Lask
Got the top and bottom teams correct. Went for Union to finish 2nd but it was Toulouse.
