Rescheduling of matches by the CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana
The Directorate of Competitions and Operations of CONMEBOL announced the postponement of the matches between Huachipato (CHI) vs. Gremio (BRA) for the CONMEBOL Libertadores 2024, and Real Tomayapo (BOL) vs. International Association (BRA) for the CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2024 and reported the following:
On May 2, the Government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul decreed a State of Emergency due to the heavy rains affecting the State and especially the city of Porto Alegre;
So far, 55 people have died and more than 350,000 people are without power, as a result of the floods that affect the entire state;
Salgado Filho International Airport is flooded and its operations are suspended indefinitely;
The roads out of Porto Alegre and access to the airport are also affected and unused;
Consequently, CONMEBOL has decided to postpone the match between Huachipato (CHI) vs. Gremio (BRA), for the CONMEBOL Libertadores 2024, initially scheduled for next Wednesday, May 08, 2024, and the match between Real Tomayapo (BOL) vs. Internacional (BRA), for the CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2024, initially scheduled for next Tuesday, May 7, 2024. The new date for both meetings will be announced shortly.
