2023/24 Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final
A good win, could have been a better one. Sancho caused lots of problems, could have had two assists, dominated Mendes, crisp passing, linked up well with his teammates and won a few corners.
I think that the 3 points are need if France doesn’t lose any points. Since this is a win vs French team, it should be enough to ensure Germany of EPS.bugylibicska wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 22:393 points needed to be sure.BurningStorm wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 22:33 I'm not sure if a win is enough to clinch the top 2 spot for Germany, but if yes, then Dortmund are 20 minutes away from qualifying for the CL 24/25 (if they keep this result).

Very interesting match. First half with no so many chances, PSG looked stronger, playing the ball in Borussia's half without threatening the goal but was Borussia to score a great goal.
In second half PSG started better again, pressuring, and then the game broke with wasted chances on both goals. In the middle looks a clear unnoticed penalty for Borussia. They could ended with 2-0 and would have been a better result to take to 2nd leg.
PSG was uninspired, their key players didn't shine (and I m not talking about Mbappe that is MIA for quite a long time) but if they bring their best game, they can turn this result.
I hope Dortmund will go through and meet Real.

Glad they got the win Chances are of course better than before the game, I would say it's 45:55. Dortmund are always able to get a good result even in important away games, they also won in Munich a few weeks ago, but we all know the current Bundesliga version of Bayern, in Paris it's obviously a different game. And so far, Dortmund couldn't show much in their away games at PSG. Hopefully this time it's different, with the lead in the back.
A few years back with Haaland they won the first leg against PSG as well (2-1, both goals by him), but lost 0-2 there.

Dortmund may be the first team ever to secure themselves a CL spot for next year by winning a CL match other than the finale.

Fantastic games for Bundesliga teams Bayern and Dortmund despite being heavy underdogs. They earned the right to dream about the final.
I guess Bayern have much better odds about winning in Madrid than Dortmund holding the draw in Paris, though. Any finalist would be awesome but at least the consolation prize of five teams in next UCL is in the bag. Leverkusen can play with freedom tomorrow.

At least the hopes for a 2013 replay in Wembley are still alive after the 1st legs.

For me Bayern was never "heavy underdog". Maybe there was (and is) a slight advantage for Real, but I wasn't impressed by their performances against Leipzig (2x) and away at City. In the end it's Real, you can't write them off. But they were not the huge fav in this tie.ultra2013 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 23:08 Fantastic games for Bundesliga teams Bayern and Dortmund despite being heavy underdogs. Regarding the odds you might be wrong. Bookies give Bayern a 2.45 for reaching the final, I guess the odds for "draw or away win" for Dortmund could be a bit lower, we'll see.
@rpo.castro I agree with most parts of your post, but I disagree about the 1st half. PSG showed nothing, only woke up at halftime. Dortmund was clearly better in the first one.

I think the United fans are salty. Look at the fan-voted player ratings for Dortmund:

Sancho adrift at the bottom.
