Reminds me of Eintracht in the ECL, and for them it was more understandable after the EL trophy win and the CL experience in the two seasons before.

It's too unkind to say Villa didn't play serious when they reached the semis, they've had some good performances but it's been mixed. But West Ham on the other hand were a different level, no talk of prioritising the league that season even when they were in a relegation battle.
