Coach Transfers
Marinos Ouzounidis is the new manager of Panathinaikos. He was a very good libero for Apollon Kalamarias, Skoda Xanthi, Panathinaikos, Le Havre AC, Paniliakos and APOEL. He coached APOEL, Larissa, Iraklis, Skoda Xanthi, Platanias, Ergotelis and Panionios.

Rumour: Vitor Pereira to 1860 München (currently 14th in 2. Bundesliga).
Now we know why AVB was learning German, he is Pereiras teacher.

Sérgio Conceição can he save us? he will need to buy a striker if so. 9 goals in all league games is very bad.

Viktor Goncharenko, 39, from Belarus the new coach of CSKA Moskva. He coached BATE Borisov in Belarus between 2007-13 with remarkable success before moving to Russia. His last job was at Ufa and before he was assistant to Slutsky the former CSKA coach who resigned after the Tottenham game.

@Portuguese members: How do you rate him compared to coaches like Jesus, Bento, AVB? I think he is a good coach, but 1860 is a chaotic club and in the 2. Bundesliga, it's all about fight. Very hard job. It would be easier to sign in Wolfsburg or Gladbach, but obviously they have other ideas.

Greek and Turkish opinions would be interesting as well.BurningStorm wrote:Official: http://www.tsv1860.de/de/Aktuelles_News/2647.htmBurningStorm wrote:Rumour: Vitor Pereira to 1860 München (currently 14th in 2. Bundesliga).

Starting with the good: he won 3 league titles in 4 seasons (2 with FC Porto, 1 with Olympiacos, only failed at Fenerbahçe). In his 2 seasons at FC Porto, he only lost one of the 60 games he played. That obviously means he ended one season undefeated, only the 2nd time Porto managed to do it (an 4th by any team).
His FC Porto were solid, he liked playing possession football, which is the best defence, and the team would pass the ball around and press the opponents to get it back beautifully. However, it'd often struggle to create chances and score against a good defence.
Also, he deserves credit for his 2 league titles, both demanding very good seasons to beat a pretty strong Benfica, but Porto failed in the Cups and the European campaigns were disappointing.
About his other stints, he won the league with Olympiakos, but who doesn't, it doesn't seem like he was a good as other recent coaches there and his experience at Fenerbahçe didn't seen to be good.
So I'd rate him below Jorge Jesus (in general, not in H2H where Vítor Pereira wins) and AVB (and Leonardo Jardim), but maybe level with Paulo Bento.

Of course!Thunder_PT wrote: Greek and Turkish opinions would be interesting as well.
Will be interesting to see the difference between coaching the best team (or one of the 2 best) in a league and an average team in 2nd Bundesliga, where the pitches of some stadiums aren't in a good shape and the style is much different (some kick and rush...). The investor from Jordan (who is always only one step away from breaking the 50+1 rule in Germany) is not very patient, but this time he chose his favorite coach, so they should let him work. And I think they will spend some money for new players. Most famous player in their squad: Ivica Olic....

Maybe he didn't win the championship with Fener but I would still consider him as a successful coach.BurningStorm wrote:Thunder_PT wrote: Greek and Turkish opinions would be interesting as well.
To be honest, Besiktas was really strong last year, and his EL campaign with Fener was destroyed by the ref from Croatia. Regarding CL play-off he had to face Monaco, and they were really close for qualification (won at home 2-1, lost at Monaco 3-1) - we all know that Monaco is a dangerous team this year.
His Fener also lost the national cup final, so he was really unlucky last year.
Unfortunately in Turkey people expect immediate results, which cost him his job.
I think that his teams are really strong at home, generally speaking.

Dieter Hecking (former Wolfsburg coach, has been fired two months ago) replaces Andre Schubert as Borussia Mönchengladbach coach.
That's nice for Gladbach. IMO Hecking did a very good job at Wolfsburg. It's a shame the VW cheating scandal reflected on the club finances and a pretty promising team was disbanded.BurningStorm wrote:Dieter Hecking (former Wolfsburg coach, has been fired two months ago) replaces Andre Schubert as Borussia Mönchengladbach coach.

I agree. It's the easiest way to change the coach, and other people in this club failed worse, but maybe it was a situation like Klopp in Dortmund. Sometimes after many years with a coach you need new ideas, a new style of football etc. But I agree again, it's the right choice from Gladbach. His teams look well organized and powerful.Todor wrote:That's nice for Gladbach. IMO Hecking did a very good job at Wolfsburg. Lito Vidigal leaves Arouca to be the new coach of Maccabi Tel-Aviv. He was fantastic in both Belenenses and Arouca, both were relegation candidates when he took over, ended up qualifying them to the EL. Good choice by Maccabi Tel-Aviv, seeing what clubs that were much closer (I'm talking about you Braga!) couldn't see.
It seems Arouca will replace him with Manuel Machado. He used to be very good, but hasn't in a long time. He was just sacked by Nacional, let's see if he can go back to his glory days at Arouca.

It seems that Galatasaray fired Dutch coach Riekerink after the loss at home against Kayserispor this week-end.
They are likely to replace him with Igor Tudor, who was the coach of another Turkish team - K. Karabükspor.
Tudor was quite succesful with Karabük (they recently beat Besiktas and Galatasaray at home) and sportively looks like a good choice.
However, is this move really ethical? Not much, as now Karabük lost their coach in the middle of the season.. Tudor would be in charge of a bigger team, and would multiply his salary by 3, sure, but that's not really fair towards his former team (they could have at least waited until the end of the season).
Anyway, let's see if this becomes official - Gala would announce their new coach tomorrow.

Latest rumor propagated by marca.com: Barça wants Sampaoli for their new coach . . . A bit early to be rumoring this, perhaps . . .
