Re: EURO 2024 - qualifiers

Would have preferred Iceland to Finland but can’t complain about avoiding Ukraine and getting a home draw in the final again.

Luckily it didn’t matter in the end because Croatia won but that was a particularly awful refereeing performance.

Re: EURO 2024 - qualifiers

So likely to be Poland - Estonia and Wales - Finland/Ukraine/Iceland in path A. If Croatia mess it up tomorrow night they play Estonia instead. For Wales definitely prefer Iceland out of the three.

Edit: Also as an Albanian, my sincere apologies for qualifying :mol:
Oh yeah, forgot they didn’t have another game left. In that case hopefully Czechs get the job done on Monday for us, as fun as it would be for Moldova to qualify.

Re: EURO 2024 - qualifiers

Looks like the playoffs for us - a shame that Albania qualified last night because we could have been the only League A team left otherwise and played Estonia in the semi final. Now we probably have to play Finland/Iceland/Ukraine, which is tougher but still winnable and likely whoever misses out be...

Re: EURO 2024 - qualifiers

Armenia and Wales had to win at all costs, unbelievable that this game ended in a draw. Did both teams took risks at the end? Yes, Armenia in particular had a load of chances in the last 10 minutes but their shooting accuracy was terrible, most of them were off target. Not a helpful result for eith...

Yep if Armenia win their two games then they’re in second.

Re: UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers 2nd edition

Turkey buries ghost chances of Wales for direct qualification. Albania helps Poland to get some chances back for the second place. Israel (under normal circumstances) would be now favored over Romania for direct qualification. Wales depends on themselves, if they win last 3 matches they are through...

Re: 2023-2024 Conference League 1st and 2nd qualifying rounds

B36 much the better team but Haverfordwest pull one back to make it 2-1. A one goal defeat gives them a great chance next week.

Re: 2023-2024 Conference League 1st and 2nd qualifying rounds

0-0 halftime Haverfordwest and Shkendija, very dull game with Hwest happy to play with 11 men behind the ball for almost the entire half. Shkendija created one great chance which they missed from 6 yards.

Re: 2023-2024 Conference League 1st and 2nd qualifying rounds

I hope Penybont will qualify, but I don't think they will. FC Santa Coloma has good European experience. I hope you are enjoying Swansea! It was quite an even first leg, Penybont maybe a tiny bit better but the draw was proabably fair. I think they probably needed to win last night to go through bu...

Re: 2023-2024 Conference League 1st and 2nd qualifying rounds

First legs attendances Penybont - FC Santa Coloma 1,410 If this is correct, then the stadium was sold-out for the club's first ever European match! It is correct - tickets sold out very quickly for it. The rugby ground holds a lot more but that's all the seating tickets available. I wonder if they ...

Re: 2026 World Cup

The more I think about it, the more I like that proposal with carrying over the H2H result from the 1st group stage into a shortened 2nd group stage. Especially as it prevents that "best X of Y" nonsense which is a natural law in any other 48 team format. The downside is that such format ...

Re: 2026 World Cup

format #4: 16 groups of 3 --> top-2 advance, then 8 groups of 4 (with results of the first group) --> only group winners advance, then quarter finals I've seen this one mentioned a few times and I quite like it. Much better than having third placed teams qualify or group winners getting a bye. You'...
