Regan Charles-Cook leaves Ross County to join KAS Eupen. Its a bit of a financial reality check with the Premiership's joint top scorer (albeit only 13 goals) and, I thought, a standout player leaves to join a team that finished 15th in Belgium last season.

Gordon, McGregor and Marshall have all been outstanding for the past 20years but Marshalls penalty saves that took us to the Euros was by far the highlight of it all so far.

Makes me wonder if another attempt will be made to get Angus Gunn to switch allegiance.

He's done well at England youth level. His dad Bryan Gunn played for Scotland and got 6 caps, also as a goalkeeper. He was goalkeeper for Norwich most of his career, and his son is now too.

Dad Bryan was Jim Leighton's understudy at Aberdeen in the early 80's glory days, but got fed up and left for Norwich where he became a bit of a legend I think.

Big shout out to the mighty Falkirk Bairns last night; 5 years of absolute horror on the park, but a tremendous win live on TV over top tier Hibernian in the League Cup. More grit and skill shown in that 95 minutes than in the previous 3 seasons combined.

Two wins in the remaining matches (by no means guaranteed) and we'll progress. A rare positive feeling!

The League Cup group stage is over and the last 16 draw has been made.

Congratulations on the group win, and being the only League One team left. And you got a great draw too! :smile1:

But the biggest surprise was League Two Annan Athletic winning their group. Here's the draw:

Rangers v Queen of the South (2)

Partick Thistle (2) v Arbroath (2)

Motherwell v Inverness Caledonian Thistle (2)

Livingston v Dundee United

Dundee (2) v Falkirk (3)

Annan Athletic (4) v Aberdeen

Heart of Midlothian v Kilmarnock

Ross County v Celtic

Michael's Thistle got a perfect draw. Unseeded, Arbroath and the relegated Dundee were the only non-SPL seeded sides, and they're at home!

It's a tough draw, as Dundee look decent this season, and not much of a moneyspinner either, but heyho.

Annan are the heroes of the competition - 4th seeds in the group of 5 and finished top, eliminating a catastrophically poor St Johnstone. Callum Davidson is facing heavy unrest for his deadly negative tactics and doddery signings. They have failed to build at all on the golden year of the cup double and of course nearly got relegated in May.

Thistle won their opening game of the season. If not for Cove's goal difference being one better, we could just end the season now! :grin1:

Celtic top of the pile after MD 1 winning 2-0 against Aberdeen.

Rangers won with a tough fought 2-1 result as did Hearts.

Hibernian and Motherwell shook off a poor start to the season with 1-0 wins.

Dundee United let slip a 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 with newly promoted Kilmarnock.

Upsetting results from Motherwell and United in Europe this season but United at least put points on the board with an outstanding performance last week (let's ignore tonight's game).

But onwards and upwards for our game. 3 clubs in the group stages this year will be exciting. We also have a new TV deal on the horizon which imo is going to generate more cash but is still way short of what the game here is worth. The PPV clause will be decent thorough and imo should be allowed across the board when clubs want to use it and Sky aren't broadcasting.

Rangers are the first to drop points on MD4 in one of the typically tougher fixtures, 2-2 away to Hibernian. Celtic will have their chance to move clear tomorrow.

Hearts were brilliant tonight until the red card. Scottish football looks good this season with 3 teams in a group stage matching their abilities. Hopefully they all make it into the draw after Christmas and we can tell Sky to up the cash to show off the quality of our teams

Dundee United might have thought that the worst was over after the 7-0 at AZ Alkmaar, but now they're at home 0-7 down to Celtic and there's still 20mins to go...
