Celtic warmed up for Tuesdays game with Real Madrid with a training match against Rangers. Kyogo seems to have picked up an injury which is a shame because counter-attacking is one of his strengths. Hopefully Celtic can give a good account of themselves and it's a close game.

Real Madrid
Celtic
Leipizg
Shakhtar Donetsk

Celtic in second place instead of Leipizg because at least a surprise must happen, otherwise it is too boring.

Oh I hope you're right! Celtic have announced the only player missing tomorrow will be Starfelt but that is good imo as I consider Jenz to be a better player so he should fill in. Kyogoals has recovered from his shoulder knock.

CL holders Real Madrid are the obvious favourites to finish 1st. You'd think Leipzig would be 2nd. Celtic can certainly cause teams some problems in Glasgow though. A weakened Shakhtar are probably going to be bottom, otherwise I think they could have challenged for 3rd or even 2nd.

Predictions
1. Real Madrid
2. Leipzig
3. Glasgow Celtic
4. Shakhtar

UYL:

Expected wins for Real Madrid and Shakhtar.

Leipzig is in a losing streak of 9 UYL matches!

Real Madrid's 6-0 win was the biggest away win in their UYL history, and the second biggest alongside a 6-0 home win against Ludogorets in 2014. The biggest is still 10-0 against APOEL in 2017.

It was also Celtic's biggest defeat in its UYL history, above 0-4 vs Manchester City in 2016 and 2-6 vs Bayern in 2017.

Congratulations Shakhtar! :clapping:

Last season they only got 2 points in 6 matches, this season they already have 3 in just 1! :D

I saw a lot of ignorant comments about them, "worst team in the CL".

Ukraine is the current under-20 World Champion. In 8 UYL editions Shakhtar already reached the final once.

Shakhtar can have better players for free than others with sterile academies spending hundreds of millions in imports.

I see that Leipzig also fired Tedesco. They shouldn't have with him the same gratitude that Chelsea should have with Tuchel, but this is another strange decision, it's just one defeat. There's still plenty of time for Leipzig to recover here.

Tuchel is free now, perhaps they can get him. :grin1:

They already have a successor (see here)

3-0 win against Dortmund in his debut. So there was the typical 'new coach effect'. They should have sacked Tedesco after the 0-4 defeat at Eintracht and before the Shakhtar game. Lets see if we can see this effect also against Real away. It would help after the defeat in the first game, even though I don't think they'll get a point or more in one of the hardest tasks you can get in football.

Shakhtar are already preparing for their CL match in the Legia Training Center, which will also host Shakhtar Youth Team.

Will be a good game tomorrow, Celtic gave Real a good game but fell eventually. I feel if Celtic play the same again they should win but form can fluctuate throughout a season so that isn't guaranteed

To win the group, to qualify:

Real Madrid 1.02 1.00
Leipzig 21.00 1.91
Celtic 34.00 2.87
Shakhtar 41.00 3.75

Real surely there already, but the 2nd place is open for all 3, even for Shakhtar - surprisingly, unless their luck runs out.

Real Madrid 6
Shakhtar 4
Celtic 1
Leipzig 0

Next: Leipzig - Celtic, Real Madrid - Shakhtar.

Expected win for Shakhtar.

Leipzig interrupted its losing streak of 9 UYL matches with a draw in Spain against Real Madrid. They're still in a winless streak of 10 UYL matches, let's see when they'll be able to interrupt that too.

I'm disappointed that Shakhtar couldn't win against Celtic, but 4 points after 2 rounds is still above expected.

Leipzig is in a similar situation compared to last season, 0-0-2 after round 2. Last season they got 7 points in the following 4 matches and finished 3rd. Actually last season they lost the third match too and the recovery only started in match four. Let's see if this season they'll also recover and if this time it will start sooner.

It's a bit confusing in my opinion to mix Youth League and Champions League groups. One thread dedicated only to the YL should be enough.
