Current FIFA Ranking
Nice, we nearly caught Brazil!Dniprovec wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 15:0326th of October. They have the schedule here: https://www.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking
For the live ranking I am using: https://football-ranking.com/fifa-rankings
Warning, for the correctness of this live ranking: the match dates are not always correct. It seems the owner is situated in Asia or something because the last batch of EURO-qualifiers of last Tuesday (17 Oct.) for instance has been assigned a match-date of 18 Oct. This can lead to wrong calculations of match points when friendlies are involved. The match date of friendlies is used to determine if a friendly is played inside or outside a FIFA match window, so if an I-factor of resp. 10 or 5 must be used.Dniprovec wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 15:03 For the live ranking I am using: https://football-ranking.com/fifa-rankings
Lorric, Brazil indeed lost 25,4 points while England won 13,5 points, so your conclusion is still valid.
Can you say something about the situation of Israel? They did not play any matches in october and will play 4 matches in november. Will this influence the ranking?Ed wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 15:52Warning, for the correctness of this live ranking: the match dates are not always correct. I expect that all 4 matches will count for the November ranking, given these special circumstances.

Italy still overrated and Morocco still underrated. England are ahead of Brazil ATM IMO, as are France.
Uruguay is 11th so teams lost points for their defeats in CNL Quarterfinals.
Edit: a K-Value of 15 was used so they were calculated exactly the same as CNL group stage games.
Keeping an eye on the top 12 of Europe, which is likely to be Pot 1 for the World Cup draw (there will be 12 Groups of 4 and 5 teams).
The top 9 will not change, currently Switzerland, Denmark and Ukraine complete the top 12.
The countries right behind are Austria and Sweden. Sweden is not a contender to go higher (only lower), but Austria could overtake someone.

So we got past Brazil anyway despite the draw with Macedonia. Belgium right on our tail, both Brazil and Belgium will get a shot at us in March...

Eritrea, as they still have not played in more than 4 years after withdrawing from WCQ, are now the only team without a FIFA ranking.
The three OFC teams originally without a ranking all regain theirs after playing in this month's Pacific Games tournament: Samoa (187th), American Samoa (188th) and Tonga (196th), These three plus Cook Islands (185th) should be the four teams entering WCQ round 1.
Apart from San Marino, which are always ranked last (210th), the next bottom four teams are all from CONCACAF, and they will be the four teams which will enter WCQ round 1, with the following two-legged ties played in March 2024:
Turks and Caicos Islands (206th) vs Anguilla (209th)
British Virgin Islands (207th) vs US Virgin Islands (208th)
For UEFA, Moldova are the 50th ranked European team (49th if Russia are excluded), and they have a big deficit from Lithuania (more than 60 points), so are extremely unlikely to catch up with them by the WCQ draw. If the pots go strictly according to FIFA ranking, Moldova will be in Pot 5 and in a 5-team group, potentially a dangerous floater.

Will not all 8 nations from Nations League in the quarterfinals be seeded in Pot 1 even if they are not top 12 among the european nations on this ranking? Top 2 in League A will not necessary be the same as top 12 in Europe on FIFA ranking?
We don't know at this point. The seeding could be based only by FIFA ranking, similar to previous UEFA WCQs, or based only by UNL ranking, same as the current Euro qualifiers. It could even be based by a mixture of both, say, the 8 League A quarter-finalists are in Pot 1 (so that that 4 semi-finalists can be put into 4-team groups), and then the rest of the teams are seeded by FIFA ranking (that way a team like England could still get Pot 1 even if they are playing in 2024/25 UNL League B). We just have to wait for the official announcement.
