Rangers were unlucky in the game against Ajax. Missed a penalty to equalise the game at 2-1. Hit the woodwork a few times as well.

Ajax looked very capable as you'd expect their youth teams to do but there were encouraging signs from a few of the Rangers youth players who are playing in a competitve league set up for the last two seasons albeit a very low one (not like Barcelona B in Spain division 2 etc)

team of Ajax is only 17,8 yrs old Rangers squad exactly 1 year more. This could explain the partly superiority of Rangers in this match. One year older in this age category means a lot players should be physically stronger and more mature.
FC Kopenhagen's team is very young as well 17,7 yrs I expect them going far this season like Midtjylland did before. It's a shame that successful smaller countries not even in Youth CL get more spots than only one.

Is that a new thing, to have a Youth league match on Monday?

Domestic champions path matches have been played before on dates other than Wednesdays. This is allowed by the competition regulations:

https://documents.uefa.com/r/Regulation ... res-Online

20.04 c
If both teams and the UEFA administration agree, matches may also be played on other dates, including the Monday, Tuesday or Thursday of a UEFA Champions League matchweek.

In the champions route, Slavia surprisingly won away against Genk 2-1 despite playing almost an hour in 10 men. Quite a success for czech U19 champions, lets see if they will be able to repeat it in three weeks at home.

Meanwhile, Zagłębie Lubin lost 0-1 to Rukh Lviv. It was formally an away leg, but played in Lubin as well as the home leg. Rukh seem to be not so bad after all and Polish youth champion might be eliminated already in the first round again.

Ashdod (ISR) 2-0 Borac Banja Luka (BiH)

Expected win for the Israelis but I hoped that Borac would be able to lose with just 1 goal difference. The way it looks now, the chances for Borac are slim to overturn this result in the home match.

Yesterday Zagłębie Lubin drew 0-0 at home vs Rukh Lviv and are out (0-1 on aggregate). Even an addition from first team didn't help. So embarrassing.

Why is it embarrassing?

You think that Ukrainian football is below Polish football?
