1 ? You forgot Trabzonspor's home win against Basel.
Trabzonspor got eliminated in the previous round, I was talking about the last 2 weeks, the Round of 16.
But you say 1 win in 8 matches.
Turkey only had 3 teams = 6 matches in the Round of 16.
Mistake, fixed it.

Who would have expected that in the beginning of the season with the early exit of Antwerp before and the horrible football Gent and Anderlecht showed in the ECL group fases, the Unexpected GS of Bruges in CL and a surprising Run of Union SG in EL.

If I look at the Belgian Leaugue, I still find our league to be weak in general compared to the top 7 of EU.
but for some reason we are strong enough in europe. I guess our luck is the ECL

Anderlecht and Gent are now in a better form than in the beginning of the season, Union has been surprisingly strong and entertaining all year now and will be a contender in the tittle race this year for sure, I'm still convinced Europe isn't over yet aswell.

France is 5th and will most likely stay there. Portugal still needs 19 points out of the maximum of 24 to pass Netherlands, who of course still can get points themselves. So seems highly unlikely that Portugal will end up 6th after all.

France is 5th, Nice can provide 0 to 12 points (5 wins + 2 bonus points).
Netherlands is 6th, Feyenoord (EL) and AZ (ECL) can provide 0 to 24 points.
Portugal is 7th, Benfica (CL) and Sporting Lisbon (EL) can provide 0 to 24 points.
If France scores 0, Netherlands needs 11 points to take the 5th place, Portugal needs 31 points (impossible).
If France scores 12, Netherlands needs 21 points to take the 5th place (France divides by 6, Netherlands by 5).
If Netherlands scores 0, Portugal needs 19 points to take 6th place.
Netherlands secures the 6th place with 5 points.

Let's say Nice eliminates Basel and loses to Fiorentina in the SF.

What do AZ and Feyenoord need to do for the Netherlands to end 5th above France?

that includes so many scenarios, starting with how many points would nice collect before being eliminated.

If Nice gets 2 wins and 2 defeats plus the bonus point, France makes 5 points so Netherlands needs 16 of 24 points.
If AZ and Feyenoord get 2 wins in QF they get 10. I would say getting both teams in final would be enough.
Getting one team in final and other eliminated in SF might or not be enough depending on #of wins in QF and SF.

If France makes 5 points, I have Netherlands needing only 15 points (out of 24 possible).
The scenario restriction "Nice eliminates Basel but does not pass Semi" restricts Nice range of points from 0..12 to 3..7 (from 2 in QF + 1 bonus + 0 in SF to 4 in QF + 1 bonus + 2 in SF). There are "jumps" in Netherlands performance due to the different # of clubs: with 13 points, Netherlands overcome both 2 and 3 points by France. With 18 points, Netherlands wins over both 8 and 9 for France.

Number of points Nice gets and numbers of points AZ and Feyenoord combined need to pass France:
0 - 11
1 - 12
2 - 13
3 - 13
4 - 14
5 - 15
6 - 16
7 - 17
8 - 18
9 - 18
10 - 19
11 - 20
12 - 21

Number of points AZ and Feyenoord combined get, and number of points Benfica and Sporting need to pass Netherlands

0 - 19
1 - 20
2 - 21
3 - 22
4 - 23
5+ - impossible

Combine it with Ukraine stubborny refusing to drop in the Rankings despite the harsh conditions and Turkey having a wonder season, Norway lost top 15.
This is all true, however the gap was very narrow. It was enough to draw (not even win) any of lost matches against KI Klaksvik, Linfield, Žalgiris or Sligo Rovers to achieve 15th place. Or, going back into previous seasons: Prishtina, Shamrock Rovers, Valur or Glenavon. With all due respect to these teams, Norway has to regret these wasted chances.
Yep, fully agree. Like I said earlier though, the most damaging one had to be Molde's collapse at Gent back in November
In terms of single match outcome, I think nothing beats the penalty win for Basel against Brøndby in Q3. Now they are im the quarterfinals, and have singlehandedly carried SUI in the top 15 race.

IF Broendy had won, Denmark would have passed Norway anyway

The gap between Netherlands and France gets smaller, but with AZ with one foot out, Netherlands doesn't have realistic chances.

Belgium remains 5th for this season!

I disagree, if Feyenoord wins EL and Nice loses vs Basel then they should be 5th.

Belgium now is 4.750 points ahead of Scotland for next season's 8th place battle, and 6.600 points over Austria. I think they won the battle before it even started. Even a poor Belgian season combined with an European final for a Scottish club isn't enough to melt the advance.
