2023 U17 Women's Euro - Estonia
Well to be fair, she's just hit it straight into the keeper.
Baker is back on top as our overall top scorer with a curling finish, 1-3!
We won 1-3. Too bad it's not a WCQ year, see if we can beat France to win the group...
Whether either of us will then be able to stop those two monsters I don't know. But between them they've won every U17 Euro ever except Poland winning it in 2013. They've also contested the final six times and will be looking to make it seven. 8 wins for Germany, 4 for Spain.
What is it with Germany and penalties? Looking at the finals, Germany have gone to penalties in the final of this competition six times and won all six, beating Spain four times and France and Netherlands once.
Spain and Germany have an equal record (W1, D4, L1) in finals against each other, but because of penalties, it's 5/6 for Germany.

France have been clearly the better team, but it is England who take the lead with a beautiful strike into the top corner from Ward!
We've got the second keeper in goal and she is doing well also. And that's HT 0-1, France dropped to the canvas with a sucker punch at the end of the first half!

One of ours gets round the keeper but a defender goes flying in to block the shot into the empty net.
England have been much improved in the second half and have got better as it's gone on, and are now controlling the game!
And France equalise just as I post that. Ball across goal and a tap in into an empty net.
1-1 FT. Better than I expected, but a worthless result all the same.
Matchday 3 (Saturday 20 May)
Group A
Switzerland 2-1 Germany (Kadriorg Stadium, Tallinn)
Spain 6-0 Estonia (Lilleküla Stadium, Tallinn)
Group B
France 1-1 England (Võru Stadium, Võru)
Poland 6-0 Sweden (Tartu Tamme Stadium, Tartu)
So the 8-time champions are out! For only the second time Germany do not make the final four. That was in 2013, the last time the final tournament was a 4-team affair "permanently" hosted by Switzerland, and they were eliminated in qualifying. So since 2014 when the tournament consists of eight teams, we will not see Germany in the semi-finals for the first time. And as they have won their last six titles by penalty kicks in the final, may as well knock them out in the group stage!
Here is the knockout stage schedule:
Semi-finals (Tuesday 23 May)
France vs Switzerland (16:00, Kadriorg Stadium, Tallinn)
Spain vs England (18:00, Lilleküla Stadium, Tallinn)
Final (Friday 26 May)
18:00, Lilleküla Stadium, Tallinn

I don't know what the hell happened in the other semi, but France won 10-2! No red cards either.
