It's impossible to comment on Rijeka because of so many unknowns around the club. We don't know who the coach will be, we don't know who they'll bring instead of the major players that left the club. If they do a good job this summer, then they can be dangerous (not to win the title, but at least to be a contender like last season). If they don't do a good job, then they will be fighting for a place in Europe, i.e. to avoid fifth place.
Looks like good news for Djuragarden either way, if they still don't have a coach and their starting players.

There is still a full month before their European ties start, so I wouldn't panic yet. But they do need to get their act together quickly.

Rijeka has a similar sports policy every year. They don't have the money like Dinamo, Hajduk or Osijek have, to pay transfer fees of more than 300k euros or to bind leading players with lucrative contracts (which would be 500k + euros by Croatian league standards) for a longer period of time.
Therefore, they have two options left: a) to sign younger, unproven free agents or b) to sign proven national team players, but those who are in decline, reconvalescent or simply looking for minutes before a big national team competition. In particular, Rijeka revived Josip Drmić, who scored a lot of goals in last 1.5 year. Most of his contract was paid by Norwich, its owner. Now, as a free agent, he signed for Dinamo, for big money, and is on the radar of the Swiss national team.
Robert Murić is a slightly different example, he went abroad early, failed, and eventually returned to the HNL, he got a chance in Rijeka. He has now been sold to Turkey.

So, we can say that Rijeka is an eco-friendly club, which recycles players.
The series of recycled players now either returned from loan to their clubs or became free agents or were sold.

A new recycling project will now be launched.

The first is Mario Vrančić, a player who came on the same principle as Drmić, on loan from Stoke City.
Rijeka also signed the Spaniard who previously sought football luck in Bulgaria, Pablo Alvarez from Cherno More.

They will now bring 2-3 more players prior to Djurgarden, and then another 4-5 players in the end of August, when they see how narrow their roster is :)

Currently, Rijeka's biggest problem is the coach. The previous coach was offensively oriented, but of very modest competitiveness - Goran Tomić. And he left the club. So, slub is coached by two unexperienced coaches, Fausto Budicin and Dragan Tadić.

I think that Rijeka should play more defensive, stronger, more tactically responsible football. I hope that he will persuade Matjaž Kek, the selector of the Slovenian national team. He will just drop out of the League of Nations :) And he completly fits Rijeka's DNA.

Budicin is a very good coach, he was doing wonders with Orijent. It would be interesting if he would get a chance in the top club.

I very much doubt Kek will return. He is a legend in Rijeka, there are great memories and it is probably the best it stays that way.

This is great news for Djurgardens. Realistically, about 80% of the best players and excellent coach Tomić left Rijeka. If it was Rijeka from last season, it would be an easy favorite compared to the Swedes, now the Swedes will be the favorite. Rijeka played beautiful and efficient football, it was the most efficient HNL team, but its defense was weak. There is no chance that Rijeka will buy players like those who left it, and it will be difficult to bring in a coach like Tomić. They are in financial trouble, and the team needs to work hard to give the maximum. What Rijeka has in Croatia is a name and can bring good players from Croatia and surrounding countries for free or cheap. But her maximum is fourth place next season. :dontknow:

Rijeka confirmed Budicin and Tadic.

They are also close to sign ex U21 NT player Luka Pavlovic from Amiens. Central back, 32 years old.

Now some forward and right winger until the end of June, so we can have some hopes for Djurgarden.

That's a huge risk taken by Rijeka. Inexperience of the coaching staff could cost them dearly.

Well, they tried to sign Tam Courts from Dundee, second choice was Devis Mangia from Malta NT.
Failed.

Ok, they have young duo, but at least they have a coach. They could run for big name and wait until August and lose a lot.

Now they have local guys, who know the team and that is the best for them now.

They can't pay bettee than this.

In Rijeka just two good players stay, Ampem and Vuckic, all anothers are unknown. None coach with a good renome will not come in such situation. No money,no good players and big presion from funs and club.

Rijeka is in a very difficult situation, I think it is in the worst situation in the Mišković era, so the last ten years. I think Dinamo should lend Rijeka 5 or 6 players they are not seriously counting on this season. Croatia has a chance to get into the Top 15 this season, and maybe even in 12th place in the Country ranking. If Croatia finished 12th, the champion would probably go directly to the CL according to the new access list. Normally if EL wins a club that has already secured a place in the CL through the domestic championship, which is very likely.
So every point is very important and it is in Dinamo's interest for Rijeka to win as many points in the ECL as possible.Russia will fall out of the Top 20, Ukraine will find it very difficult to defend its place in the Top 15 in this situation in country, and 14. Norway is only 1,225 points away.

Rijeka signed stopper Mateo Pavlović (ex Werder, Ferencvaros, Angres, Amiens), and Matej Mitrović from Brugge (pillar of the defense from Rijeka's 2017 championship season) also returned. Anton Krešić, on loan from Atalanta, extended his loan.

Rijeka also signed the right wing, the captain of Hrvatski Dragovoljac, Valentino Majstorović, and the right winger Ivan Tomečak will probably return as well.

Now let's see if there is a Croatian from Switzerland, a striker whose career is in decline, to come to Rijeka, like Gavranović and Drmić :)

Rijeka signed Alen Halilovic as well.

Solid job by Rijeka in the transfer market after the exodus of a large number of players in the off-season. Let's see if those new players can fit together well as a team.

The title race in HNL starts today, but the race for the coolest kit is already decided. The sharks of Rijeka surely claim the title:
