English Football 2022/23
Brighton must be @Firnen's favourite English team, not only does he enjoy watching them play, they pounded Liverpool earlier in the season, now they're scoring a wonderful goal in injury time to knock Liverpool out of the FA Cup! I just put the end of the game on on a whim, and they scored that goal within seconds of me doing so. FT 2-1.

Brighton knocked out Liverpool from the FA cup with a superb 92nd minute goal by Mitoma, 2:1!
Liverpool got away with 2 red cards in this match as well.Lorric wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 16:25 Brighton must be @Firnen's favourite English team, not only does he enjoy watching them play, they pounded Liverpool earlier in the season, now they're scoring a wonderful goal in injury time to knock Liverpool out of the FA Cup! Brighton is fleecing other teams in the transfer market when selling their players (and coach) and replace the players they sell for a minimum cost - Mitoma is the latest example.
It's a very nice city as well!
Wrexham, the last surviving non-league side, are primed to advance, I put the second half on, they were 1-0 down, but are now a goal up and a man up with 4mins left...

3:3 in Wrexham between the home team (5th tier) and Sheffield United 2nd in the championship.
It didn't happen. Sheffield United rescued themselves from a corner at 90+5' to force a replay. 3-3 FT.
Chelsea still at it, Malo Gusto on a 7 and a half year contract, £30.7M from Lyon.

A few days ago, UEFA announced they'd be putting a limit of 5 years on how long you can stretch out your transfer fee in FFP in direct response to what Chelsea is doing. It won't be applied retroactively.

West Ham won 2:0 at Derby, so travel to Old Trafford in the next round.
4th round devoid of shocks beyond a couple of replays. At this point holders Liverpool losing to Brighton is an expected result.
No to Superleague

The Magpies going to Wembley! Last time in 1999 in the FA cup final against MU and now again.
Chelsea are actually insane. They just broke the British transfer record, £107M for Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. Don't know the details of the contract yet.
When this window is over, I'd love to see a breakdown of how much they've curtailed themselves for buying players in future years. They've seemingly committed themselves to this group of players for years to come.

Spent nearly £600M this season.

Todd Bohely has spent 600M in 6 months to finish 6th at best.

With the money they spent on this winter window, I can't imagine what the summer window is going to be like in 3/4 months time. Todd Bohely about to go full throttle.

How will Chelsea look in 1 or 2 years to come? Like Barça after Bartolomeo?macgregorc93 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 20:30 With the money they spent on this winter window, I can't imagine what the summer window is going to be like in 3/4 months time. Todd Bohely about to go full throttle.
I hope they hit rock bottom. Its just absurd spending this obscene quantity of money.
