The Safety of Rangers FC and their Supporters in Belgrade

Post by nelster »

Rangers FC / their Supporters and members of the Scottish Media have been told by Serbian Police that they are not permitted to leave the hotel today as their safety cannot be guaranteed.

If our safety cannot be guaranteed, there should be NO match.

Of course UEFA will not give a toss regarding the matter.

What's everyone's opinion that you cannot go to a country for a football match and be treated in a civilised manner ?

Dear Nelster,
I think that Rangers fans had a good night in Belgrade and I sow about 150 singing and drinking yesterday evening in the center of Belgrade. I think that appeal is becouse of possible fight between Rangers and Red Star funs, but our funs never make truoble with opposite funs. UEFA punnish Red Star mostly becouse pyrotechnics after scoring of fight against police. I did not know if any host fun had a problem in Serbia? Serbs are very good hosts and we want Rangers funs to have a good time in Belgrade, but I hope we will win.
Sorry for bad English.

Zeljiko thanks for the reply.

Many people believe that there is no danger and it is an arrangement between Red Star and the Police just to make Rangers a little nervous.

I know a few fans decided to go out and had a good time.

Not long til the talking can start on the pitch like it should

Rangers fans currently being attacked in Serbia, missiles being hurled at the fans who travelled independently and are already in stadium.

Rangers official travel party will not be allowed into the stadium until just before kick off for their own safety, the fans already in the stadium are under heavy pressure.

The Scottish Media Bus has also been attacked.

This is not acceptable.

But UEFA don't care, do they.

Where you found that informations?
A few hours before start of the match Rangers and Red Star funs drink and sing in the center of Belgrade without any incident. I do not know why British media make atmosphere of dangerous in Serbia. You can read for a weeks about racism in Serbia, and what Mr. Smith said just after game? "Serbia funs are not racist at all". If we won I think that he wont be so kind.

zeljko, it was mainly the scottish media who were intimidated, I know one rangers former player working for radio nearly missed kick off as he tried to be allowed into the stadium, he had 6 riot police escort him to his seat.

I found your fans to be impressive, I found your police to be controlled, maybe the organisational skills need to be better.

zeljko please accept my apologies regarding your city. The Rangers fans have returned and describe it as one of the best trips ever.

The police were friendly, the locals were brilliant.

A few pictures.

Thanks to you and your people, we hate the Scottish Media anyway, so thank you

All the best from Rangers FC for the UEFA Cup, if you buy a top quality striker you could do ok.

Nelster, of course I accept Your appology, and I understand your feeling because for last 15 years you listen bad things about Serbia from your media. I am one scientist and many scientists from all over the world come to Serbia with fear and leave Serbia with nice emotions. Everything you heard about Serbia from west media is wrong. Next time we meet in UEFA cups I hope You will come to Serbia and be sure I am right.
One more thing. Red Star opponents in the third round QCL last 3 times:
Bayer (0-0, 3-0), Bayer played the final with Real
PSV (2-3, 5-0), PSV unforunatelly loose against Milan in the Semifinal
Milan (1-0, 2-1), Milan win the title.

I wish You will continue the row and rich the semifinal at least.
