Perfect 'balance' in this MD; the top 7 clubs won and the bottom 7 clubs lost! Not a single draw! :grin1:

PAS Giannina - Aris 0-4
Panathinaikos - Atromitos 2-0
Lamia - Panaitolikos 1-3
Olympiacos - AEK 0-0
PAOK - Volos 3-0
Asteras Tripolis - Ionikos 1-0
OFI - Levadiakos 2-1

Standings:

Panathinaikos......12-1-0....37
AEK..................9-2-2......29
PAOK................7-4-2......25
Olympiacos.........7-4-2......25
Volos.................7-3-3.....24
Aris..................6-3-4.....21
-----------------------------------------
Panaitolikos........4-4-5......16
Atromitos...........4-3-6......15
Asteras Tripolis.....2-7-4.....13
OFI....................2-4-7....10
PAS Giannina........2-3-8.....9
Lamia................1-6-6.....9
Levadiakos..........1-4-8.....7
Ionikos...............1-4-8.....7

- Panathinaikos ends the 1st round with an almost perfect record, an 8 point lead over AEK and having conceded only 4 goals. The greens are rarely flashy, but concede very few goals and are extremely effective.
- AEK is playing probably the best football so far, they were better in yesterday's derby and the team that came closer to winning it. AEK has never won a title by bridging such a gap from 1st place though. Can they do it this year?
- PAOK quite unexpectedly goes to the World Cup break as 3rd. PAOK is in a rebuilding stage and was obvious from the start that they won't fight for the title, but managed to crawl back up the last week.
- Olympiacos continues breaking every negative record imaginable. 0 wins in the 5 matches against the rest of the top 6, add the 12 European matches, and Olympiacos has 0 wins in their 17 most competitive matches. Zero. None. They haven't beatean ANY team stronger than Panaitolikos.
- Volos is starting to show signs of a "position correction". They aren't gonna finish 4th obviously, and 5th would be a monumental upset. But their points lead to Panaitolikos, Atromitos and Asteras is huge now, they re in a great position for the final play off spot.
- Aris got 2 easy wins in the last week and Alan Pardew can breathe easier. The 1st round was a catastrophe for Aris, who was dreaming even of fighting for the title this season. They have the quality to enter the top 5 obviously, but they lack consistency for something more.
- Panaitolikos exceeds expectation with Nikos Karelis having scored 9 out of their 16 goals and being the league's leading scorer. Atromitos and Asteras Tripolis dissapoint, with Atromitos having 1 point in 6 matches against the top 6, and Asteras being allergic to wins (they have a ton of draws).
- The bottom 5 will fight to avoid relegation, with OFI having a really bad season, PAS Giannina having the quality drop everyone expected and the 3 minnows being at the level expected.

Cup Round of 16 Draw:

Olympiacos - Atromitos
Panserraikos (2) - Apollon Pontou (2)
Panathinaikos - Volos
Lamia - Kallithea (2)
Levadiakos - Aris
Kifisia (2) - AEK
Kalamata (2) - PAOK
Apollon Paralimniou (3) - Agios Nikolaos (3)

Cup QF Draw:

Kalamata (2)/PAOK v Panathinaikos/Volos
Olympiacos/Atromitos v Levadiakos/Aris
Apollon Paralimniou (3)/Agios Nikolaos (3) v Lamia/Kallithea (2)
Kifisia (2)/AEK v Panserraikos (2)/Apollon Pontou (2)

Cup SF Draw:

Kifisia (2)/AEK/Panserraikos (2)/Apollon Pontou (2) v Olympiacos/Atromitos/Levadiakos/Aris

Levadiakos - Aris 1-1
Asteras Tripolis - Volos 0-0
AEK - Lamia 3-0
PAS Giannina - Olympiacos 2-2
Ionikos - Panathinaikos 1-1
OFI - Atromitos 0-1
Panaitolikos - PAOK 0-2

Standings:

Panathinaikos......12-2-0....38
AEK.................10-2-2......32
PAOK................8-4-2......28
Olympiacos.........7-5-2......26
Volos.................7-4-3.....25
Aris..................6-4-4.....22
-----------------------------------------
Atromitos...........5-3-6......18
Panaitolikos........4-4-6......16
Asteras Tripolis.....2-8-4.....14
OFI....................2-4-8....10
PAS Giannina........2-4-8.....10
Lamia................1-6-7.....9
Levadiakos..........1-5-8.....8
Ionikos...............1-5-8.....8

- Panathinaikos dropped points for the 2nd time this season and for the 1st time against a minnow. Bottom-ranked Ionikos equalized in the end and grabbed a point against the league leaders. Is it the end of the trend that had Panathinaikos grabbing 1-goal wins?
- AEK closes the gap to 6 points after comfortably beating Lamia at home, while PAOK is alone 3rd after their 17th (!!) consecutive win against Panaitolikos and 9th consecutive away win against the team from Agrinio.
- Olympiacos continues right where they left of, being inconsistent, lost and with footballers incompetent for this level. PAS Giannina returns from 0-2 down and gets a point against the struggling champions.
- Bad result for Aris away to Levadiakos, while Volos left Tripoli with a point. Atromitos got an important away win in Crete, and it's more and more obvious that the bottom 5 are their own sub-group fighting to avoid relegation.

In a coach change that was expected months ago given the very poor results (regarding wins), Iraklis Metaxas, the coach of last year's PAS Giannina miracle run to 6th, is fired from Asteras Tripolis.

His replacement is Akis Mantzios, former coach of Aris.

Lamia also fired Gianluca Festa during the break, his replacement is Savvas Pantelidis (anoher former Aris coach actually).

7 clubs out of 14 have now changed their coach.

The clubs continuing with the coach they started this season are Panathinaikos, AEK, PAOK, Atromitos, Panaitolikos, PAS Giannina and Ionikos.

Aris - Panaitolikos 1-0
Lamia - PAS Giannina 1-1

Standings:

Panathinaikos......12-3-0....39

OFI....................2-5-8....11
PAS Giannina........2-5-8.....11
Lamia................1-7-7.....10
Ionikos...............1-5-8.....9

The title race got much tighter in the last 2 matches of 2022!
- Panathinaikos drops points again, despite plaing 11 v 10 for 80 minutes! OFI successfully defended for almost the whole match, scored in a rare counter attack and the greens only managed to salvage the draw in 97'.
- AEK is now 4 points behind Panathinaikos, and is now the bookmakers' favourite for the title, after comfortable beating Volos.
- Olympiacos vented their frustrations on Asteras Tripolis and won a few days of relative peace.
- Atromitos proved once again to be a difficult fixture for PAOK, stopping the win streak of the Thessaloniki white-and-blacks.
- Aris caught up with 5th place, while in the bottom of the standing Levadiakos got a huge win against Ionikos.

OFI - Volos 0-0
Levadiakos - Panathinaikos 0-1
PAS Giannina - AEK 2-1
Ionikos - Olympiacos 0-2
Asteras Tripolis - Lamia 3-0
Panaitolikos - Atromitos 2-0
PAOK - Aris 1-0

Standings:

Panathinaikos......13-3-0....42
AEK.................11-2-3......35
PAOK................9-5-2......32
Olympiacos.........9-5-2......32
Volos.................7-5-4.....26
Aris..................7-4-5.....25

Atromitos...........5-4-7......19
Panaitolikos........5-4-7......19

PAS Giannina........3-5-8.....14
OFI....................2-6-8....11
Levadiakos..........2-5-9.....11
Lamia................1-7-8.....10
Ionikos...............1-5-9.....9

- Panathinaikos returned to 1-goal wins against Levadiakos, after a rather lackluster performance and is heading to the derby against AEK with a 7 points gap.
- That's because AEK suffered a shock defeat from PAS in a match where they wasted 4 huge chances and their defense was laughably bad, with Vida looking like a retired footballer.
- Olympiacos easily beat bottom placed Ionikos, while Atromitos lost to Panaitolikos and dropped the chance to close the gap from an out of form Volos.
- PAOK won the Thessaloniki derby after 5 winless ones (2 wins for Aris, 3 draws) and hold on to 3rd together with Olympiacos while Aris remains very low in the standings.

Levadiakos - PAS Giannina 1-3
Lamia - PAOK 0-3
Volos - Olympiacos 0-4
Atromitos - Ionikos 2-0
Aris - Asteras Tripolis 3-0
AEK - Panathinaikos 1-0
Panaitolikos - OFI 0-4

Standings:

Panathinaikos......13-3-1....42
AEK.................12-2-3......38
PAOK...............10-5-2......35
Olympiacos........10-5-2.....35
Aris..................8-4-5.....28
Volos.................7-5-5.....26

Atromitos...........6-4-7......22
Panaitolikos........5-4-8......19
PAS Giannina........4-5-8.....17
Asteras Tripolis.....3-8-6.....17
OFI....................3-6-8....15
Levadiakos.........2-5-10.....11
Lamia................1-7-9.....10
Ionikos..............1-5-11.....8

- AEK puts an end to Panathinaikos' undefeated streak from the start of the season! It was long overdue, the Greens had gotten away in the very last minute twice so far in the season and it almost happened again, with Panathinaikos hitting the post at 90+8 minutes - and AEK missing a penalty at 90+9. After a quite poor match regarding spectacle, AEK scored with a shot from the side by Pineda. A minute before AEK's goal, a flare went off right next to Panathinaikos' GK, a fact the reporters of the Greens are not happy about at all.
- Taking advantage of the derby, Olympiacos and PAOK got easy away wins and closed the gap from the top to 7 points. It looks like there might be a multi-team title fight in the play offs this year.
- Aris finally overtook the collapsing Volos after a convincing home win. Volos notably sold 10k+ tickets to Olympiacos and AEK (and around 8k to Panathinaikos) for the "home" matches agianst them, given that the artificial club of the mayor-gangster has no fans. They expectedly lost the matches 1-5, 0-4 and 0-4.
- Atromitos is approaching the top 6, but has a really difficult schedule from now on. OFI got a spectacular away win in Agrinio, and it looks like Valdas Dambrauskas is starting to deliver results for the Cretan team, especially away.
- PAS Giannina had 9 points before the break and has 8 in the first 4 matches after, building a significant gap to the bottom 2.
- The bottom 3 has fallen behind, and only one of them will survive. Is it finally the time to say goodbye to Lamia? (I hope so).

Cup Round of 16:

Olympiacos - Atromitos 4-1, 2-2
Panserraikos (2) - Apollon Pontou (2) 3-0, 1-0
Panathinaikos - Volos 3-0, 2-0
Lamia - Kallithea (2) 1-1, 2-1
Levadiakos - Aris 1-2, 0-1
Kifisia (2) - AEK 0-2, 0-3
Kalamata (2) - PAOK 0-2, 0-2
Apollon Paralimniou (3) - Agios Nikolaos (3) 2-2, 2-1 aet.

The Round of 16 was uneventful and boring, with all the favourites winning their ties very easily.

Apollon Paralimniou (3) v Lamia
AEK v Panserraikos (2)

Cup SF Draw:

AEK/Panserraikos (2) v Olympiacos/Aris

Lamia - Atromitos 1-1
PAOK - OFI 0-0
AEK - Panaitolikos 4-1
Asteras Tripolis - Levadiakos 0-0
Olympiacos - Aris 1-0
PAS Giannina - Panathinaikos 0-1
Ionikos - Volos 0-1

Standings:

Panathinaikos......14-3-1....45
AEK.................13-2-3......41
Olympiacos........11-5-2.....38
PAOK...............10-6-2......36
Volos.................8-5-5.....29
Aris..................8-4-6.....28
-----------------------------------------
Atromitos...........6-5-7......23
Panaitolikos........5-4-9......19
Asteras Tripolis.....3-9-6.....18
PAS Giannina........4-5-9.....17
OFI....................3-7-8....16
Levadiakos.........2-6-10.....12
Lamia................1-8-9.....11
Ionikos..............1-5-12.....8

- Panathinaikos returns to winning results combining two of their favourite patterns this season: late goals and penalties. A penalty in the 94th minute allowed the Greens to leave Giannina with the win and retain their points gap to AEK and Olympiacos.
- AEK had a very easy afternoon at home against Panaitolikos, which is generally not competitive when facing the big clubs. AEK has the best goal difference in the league and Livai Garcia is now joint top scorer of the league with Panaitolikos' Karelis.
- Olympiacos won their first derby of the season (and the easiest on paper) at home against Aris and climbed to 3rd. After a poor first half in which the offside trap saved the champions twice, they caught Aris sleeping 50 seconds in the 2nd half, and from there they were the better team missing chances for a higher scoreline. Aris' record in derbies is very poor, having only one win (against Olympiacos at home) in 6 matches.
- PAOK dropped 4th after dropping 2 points to OFI at home. OFI used the successful model which gave them a point against Panathinaikos away too, aka park the bus and have the goalkeeper in a great day, and it brought them another positive result, while PAOK will feel disappoiting by the way they lost these 2 points.
- Volos got a late winner from the penalty spot against Ionikos while Atromitos dropped points against Lamia - which brings Volos at a 6 point cushion (they overtook Aris again) and an easier scehdule than Atromitos, firm favourites for the top 6 despite their bad form.

QF cup first leg:

Apollon Paralimniou v Lamia 1-2
AEK v Panserraikos 3-0
Olympiakos v Aris 1-0
PAOK v Panathinaikos 2-0
PAOK is not a club. PAOK is a cultural phenomenon.

Panaitolikos - PAS Giannina 1-1
OFI - Asteras Tripolis 1-0
Aris - Volos 3-0
Ionikos - AEK 1-2
Levadiakos - Lamia 0-0
Panathinaikos - PAOK 0-3
Atromitos - Olympiacos 1-1

Standings:

Panathinaikos......14-3-2....45
AEK.................14-2-3......44
PAOK...............11-6-2......39
Olympiacos........11-6-2.....39
Aris..................9-4-6.....31
Volos.................8-5-6.....29
-----------------------------------------
Atromitos...........6-6-7......24
Panaitolikos........5-5-9......20
OFI....................4-7-8....19
PAS Giannina........4-6-9.....18
Asteras Tripolis.....3-9-7.....18
Levadiakos.........2-7-10.....13
Lamia................1-9-9.....12
Ionikos..............1-5-13.....8

- PAOK burst the bubble of Panathinaikos for good, and with a bang. And emphatic 0-3 victory in the derby, while hitting the post twice more, and exposing every weakness of Panathinaikos. It's a matter of time for Panathinaikos to drop from 1st place, while PAOK is in a good form after the World Cup and has reduced the gap from the top spot significantlly. The two teams will face each other again on Thursday for the Cup, with PAOK defending their 2-0 home win.
- AEK is now breathing on the Greens' neck, after escaping a fiasco against bottom placed Ionikos, who was leading the match until the 82nd minute. AEK launched a comeback in 82' and 93' and is in striking position to overtake Panathinaikos.
- Olympiacos proved mentally and physically weak once again this season, failing to take advantage of Panathinaikos' loss and close the gap to 1st. The unorthodox lineup with 3 "no.10" players in the same lineup to have everyone happy and deprive everyone's eyes from the horror of playing technically talentless wingers has ceased working once the opponents become more competitive, Michel's subs were disastrous and Atromitos could have gotten the win if they had better finishing in the end.
- Aris beat Volos and overtook them, OFI remained undefeated for a 5th match in a row, while Levadiakos and Lamia were too scared to lose, in a duel that is expected to last till the end of the play-outs.

AEK, PAOK and Olympiakos have the same gap among them (AEK increased 1 point) for quite some time, the big difference is Pana in heavy loss. Probably won't stop there.

From all the Derbies and classic matches, what are the hottest? Oly-Pana must be by far the top 1, but the others rivalries how they rank below that?

Ionikos fires coach Dimitris Spanos, becoming the 8th team not to finish the season with the same coach they started.

Panathinaikos, AEK, PAOK, Atromitos, Panaitolikos and PAS Giannina are the 6 clubs who haven't had a coach change this season.
