Uruguay win their first title, after being runners-up in 1997 and 2013.

Italy reach their first final, after two consecutive semi-final losses, finishing third in 2017 and fourth in 2019.

Israel finish third in their debut appearance, and only other participation in a FIFA tournament other than the 1970 World Cup.

Uruguay are the third South American country to win the title, joining Argentina with 6 and Brazil with 5.

The only European countries to have won multiple titles are Portugal and Yugoslavia/Serbia, both with 2. England, France, (West) Germany, Spain, Ukraine, and USSR each have won 1 title.

The only African team to have won is Ghana.

Uruguay's win also means that the reigning champions of all four FIFA men's national team football tournaments are CONMEBOL nations (the last U17 World Cup was played in 2019 before the 2021 tournament was cancelled).

Also Uruguay's U20 coach, Marcelo Broli, won his second youth title in two years, after winning the U20 Copa Libertadores with Penarol in 2022. He was also caretaker coach of the senior national team for two matches in March.

AFC and OFC both failed to win while CONCACAF is still being carried by the US, but at least Honduras got a draw.

I didn't like Uruguay's play... Defending with most players, and going for fast counter attacks.
The best team in the world will struggle against that kind of play, but it's not something that I like to see.
