Reigning Women's World Cup champions Spain qualify for their first ever Olympics, after beating Netherlands 3-0 in the UWNL semi-finals. They join France, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Canada and New Zealand in the women's tournament.

Olympic hosts France won the other UWNL semi-final, beating Germany 2-1. Therefore, the other European place in the Olympics women's tournament will be decided by the third place match between Netherlands and Germany.
