Goal 7 of the 11 FIFA 2023-27 Strategic Goals includes proposals to improve football at the Olympic Games, which is long overdue particularly regarding making futsal an Olympic discipline.

Propose changes to the Olympic Football Tournament format
FIFA intends to make recommendations to the International Olympic Committee to change the format of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament at the Olympic Games, namely concerning an increase in the number of teams from the current 12 teams to 16 teams, to mirror the men’s tournament. Given participation levels worldwide, FIFA will also propose that both futsal and beach soccer be considered as distinct football disciplines at the Olympic Games going forward.

It's been confirmed by the AFC that the first leg of the Women's Olympic qualifying final round tie between DPR Korea and Japan will be played in the Kim Il-Sung Stadium in Pyongyang. It will be the first time a Japan national team, men or women, travel to North Korea since 2011 for a Brazil 2014 WCQ match.

Change of Final Phase – CONMEBOL Olympic Qualifying 2024

The Directorate of Competitions and Operations of the South American Football Confederation reported on the change of venue for the Final Phase of the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic 2024:

After carrying out a new inspection of the Metropolitano de Lara stadium, the team made up of technicians from CONMEBOL and the FVF agreed that the conditions of the turf are still not optimal for the Final Phase of the CONMEBOL 2024 Olympic Qualifiers, which is taking place in Venezuela, to be held there.

The effort that has been made to ensure that the stadium is in the best condition is evident with the infrastructure works in the Final Phase of adjustments. However, although the evolution of the pitch is favourable, it will still need a little more time to be perfectly conditioned to host matches of this magnitude.

Given these circumstances, the joint decision of CONMEBOL and FVF has been that the Final Phase of the tournament will be played in the city of Caracas, whose facilities, like those in Valencia, have also been completely reconditioned and have already successfully hosted several matches of the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic 2024.

Additional information on logistical aspects of the Final Phase of the competition will be sent to the Member Associations as soon as possible.

The Brígida Iriarte Stadium will host the Final Phase of the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Stadium

The six matches of the Final Phase of the South American qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be played at the Brígida Iriarte Stadium, in the city of Caracas – Venezuela, from Monday, February 5 to Sunday, February 11.

Ecudaor showed it is better than Venezuela with better GD, also against Brazil it was leading, and yet Brazil can play the last match with substitutes and Ecuador might be eliminated.
