How utterly stupid?

Why on earth have we not got out 6th slot back?

Beyond pathetic!

With Poland qualified as hosts, there will be 6 UEFA teams in 2026.

Poland will also host the 2025 Women U19, which acts as the qualifying tournament for 2026 U20 WC. So in effect the other 7 teams in 2025 Women U19 final tournament will compete for 5 slots, and unless Poland finish in 4th place in their group, both third placed teams in the groups will qualify for WC. If Poland finish last in their group, there will be a WC play-off (similar to the one we just had between Austria and Iceland, but this will be held in Poland during the tournament).

So they're hosting UEFA qualifiers and actual WC? Was this decided deliberately so they can test facilities for WC?

Belarus were the original hosts of 2025 Women U19, but they can’t be hosting nowadays, so UEFA appointed Poland as the new hosts on 28 June 2023. So the answer would be no.

But Poland do appear very keen on hosting women’s international tournaments. They bid for Women’s Euro 2025 but lost to Switzerland. It is likely they will bid again for say 2029.

CONMEBOL teams always participate in their youth championships, even when they will be the hosts of the youth World Cup and thus have already automatically qualified.
