The U20 women's national teams of the ten CONMEBOL Member Associations will participate in the tournament.

The teams are divided into two groups of five teams each, with the top three finishers in each series advancing to the Finals.


This Monday, March 11, the draw was made for the Group Stage of the CONMEBOL U20 Women 2024, which will be played in the city of Guayaquil – Ecuador, from April 11 to May 5, 2024, with the participation of the ten U20 women's national teams belonging to the CONMEBOL Member Associations.

Ecuador will host for the second time the continental tournament in which Brazil is the top champion, with nine titles, all played so far. The CONMEBOL U20 Women's Championship began in 2004 every two years, and in 2024 the ninth edition of the competition will be played.

The CONMEBOL U20 Women's 2024 will be played in 2 phases: preliminary phase (group stage) and final phase (The six qualified teams from the preliminary phase will participate in this phase, with the same system of round-robin games). All phases will be played in a single round of matches. The preliminary phase is played by the 10 teams, distributed in 2 groups of 5 teams each.

The teams occupying the top three positions in each group will qualify for the Final Phase.

DPR Korea are the champions of the first edition of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup, after the age limit and name changed from AFC U19 Women's Championship. They won the AFC U19/U20 women's age group title for the second time, after 2007 where they also beat Japan in the final. In the six editions after that tournament, Japan were champions five times, while DPR Korea were runners-up also for five teams, including losing the last three finals in 2015, 2017, and 2019, all against Japan.
