Concacaf Statement about the Nations League match between Bahamas and Guyana

https://www.concacaf.com/nations-league ... nd-guyana/

The 23/24 CNL League B Group Stage match between Bahamas and Guyana, scheduled to be played today at Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has been postponed following multiple days of adverse weather conditions affecting the area and a suspension of public and private activities announced by local authorities.

Concacaf officials remain in constant communication with the local authorities, referees and both teams. Further information will be published in due course.

Guadeloupe won Group A of League B and are promoted to League A for next season.

Saint Kitts and Nevis finished last and are relegated to League C.

Saint Kitts had eliminated Trinidad in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers, and now Trinidad is in the Top 8 and Saint Kitts go down to League C.

It is very likely that all the Dutch islands (Curacao, Aruba, Saint Maarten, Bonaire) will be in League B.

SKN just qualified for their first ever CONCACAF Gold Cup less than six months ago. Now they will be in League C for next season, which ironically may help their chances to qualify for the 2025 Gold Cup (assuming League C group winners are still given play-off places in the new CNL format).

And kudos to Sint Maarten for staying at League B after getting promoted from League C last season. They won two away matches out of three, while losing all three "home" matches which they don't actually get to play at their home island.

The problem with CONCACAF's NL is the stupid format of League A. Teams playing 2 matches against someone from their Group and 0 matches against other teams from their Group? Who thought of this stupidity?

Yeah that was a really unbalanced schedule. Haiti suffered from this and got relegated. They had to play Jamaica twice and got 1 point, and then had two more draws, home vs Cuba and away vs Suriname. While Suriname got to play Grenada twice and got 4 points. Of course, had Haiti beat either Cuba or Suriname, they would have stayed in League A and their opponents would have been relegated.

So Saint Martin and Bonaire are promoted having already more points than the runners up of the other groups or is there any strange rule than only results against 1st place counts or the best runner up is determined on Concacaf ranking?? Cause it's strange that Saint Martin promotion hasn't been announced yet as no runner-up in the other groups could reach 9 points since October.

Both Saint Martin and Bonaire have been assured of being promoted at least as best runner-up (the last match will only decide who finish top of the group), together with the other group winners Aruba and Dominica. It is just that the CONCACAF admins are not very good at math. But there will be "official" confirmation after all groups are finished.

Role reversal from the first leg, as it was the Americans who had a player sent off in the first half, and subsequently lost 1-2, and they suffered their second consecutive away loss at Trinidad and Tobago, but this time the defeat did not matter unlike 2018 WCQ. USA won 4-2 on aggregate and qualified for both the CNL finals in March, and the Copa America in June/July, both on home soil.

We mostly expected Panama to beat Costa Rica in this tie, but certainly not that easily. A home 3-1 win completed the job and Panama qualified for their second consecutive CNL finals, and their second ever Copa America (after 2016 which they also came through play-offs). The 6-1 aggregate score also means Panama likely earn the top seed in the CNL finals (not that seeding actually matters as the four teams will be very close in strength).
