On Sunday, the Adriatic derby will take place in a crowded Poljud in a direct fight for first place. With the victory, Rijeka takes the lead in the HNL and becomes the biggest favorite to win the championship. I would write off Dinamo from the race for the champion, against Lokomotiv it was clear that they have neither speed, nor creation, nor mental strength to return to the race for the champion. I hope that they will keep the third place and win a place in the Conference League next season, but even that is not certain.
By winning the derby, Hajduk would break away from Rijeka and become the main favorite for the championship. We will find out on Sunday whether Hajduk can withstand the enormous pressure. :dontknow:

Hajduk-Rijeka 1:2

Karoglan's run came to an end, Hajduk is finally defeated under his helm, and deservedly so. Hajduk took the lead early on, and spent the rest of the game doing what Hajduk does best - looking pathetic and uninspired. This game also served as an clear indicator of why our teams in Europe serve as mere punching bags. Too much game flow killing, not enough real football.

I still don't believe that there is such an high number of people who are convinced that Hajduk is taking the title this season. Such an extremely volatile team has no place being in the title fight. If Rijeka wins it in the end - and they are playing the best football in the league at the moment - I would be very pleased. At least the league is still very much open and interesting.

Rijeka deservedly won the derby between the two leading teams and took the lead in the championship. :applause: Hajduk-Rijeka 1:2 in the Adriatic derby. What the championship looks like will be uncertain until the very end. Rijeka plays the most beautiful football, but both Hajduk and Dinamo have strengthened a lot in the transition period, they can do better than what they are currently showing. :dontknow:

RIjeka took the lead and Loksa won again, so they are only three points away from Osijek.

In the derby round Osijek-Hajduk 1:1, realistic result. Dinamo finally played an excellent dominant game and beat Gorica 2:0, it could have been 5:0 based on chances. Rijeka convincingly 3:0 against Istra.
Never in the history of HNL has there been a more interesting fight at the top, 3 clubs with only 4 points difference, with Dinamo having a game less.
1.Rijeka 21 -44
2. Hajduk 21-42
3. Dinamo 20-40
4. Osijek 21-31
5. Locomotive 21-38
6. Gorica 21-27
7. Slaven 21-26
8. Varaždin 20-22
9. Istra 21-18
10. Rudes 21-4
The fight for fourth place, which can bring Europe, is also uncertain. Osijek, Lokomotiva, Gorica and Slaven are only 5 points apart.
What is not good is that only the last club is relegated from the league, so Varaždin and Istria are in the comfort zone. This is where points can be traded and matches released.
Two clubs need to be relegated, i.e. the penultimate in the qualifiers with the second club from the second league. :dontknow:

Ivan Perišić, Josip Brekalo, Nikola Kalinić, Laszlo Kleinheisler are the most famous names for whom Hajduk and HNL will be stronger in the spring.
Not the only one, Dinamo bought Arber Hoxha, brought in Japanese Takuya Ogiwara on loan, withdrew Fran Brodić and Moreno Živković from loan. Osijek brought Enis Cokaj, Roko Jurišić and Slovakian forward Almasi.
The best news for Rijeka is that Lindon Selahi signed a new contract and stayed at Rujevica. In addition, they brought in Mirko Marić from Monza, who made his debut on Sunday and immediately scored a goal.
The winter transition period lasts until February 15. Hajduk is also looking for a left back, and Dinamo is looking for a right back. The winter transition period in HNL has never been stronger!

It should have been like this next season, but they changed the rules (very stupid decision).

The second league will be very interesting nevertheless. Zrinski, Šibenik and Vukovar all applied for licences and have the interest for promotion. Zrinski even announced that they will transfer to Zagreb if they achieve that. :grin1:

The league starts next weekeng with the big relegation battle BSK-Orijent.

Zrinski will probably enter the HNL and Zagreb will get a new club, they have a capable president. :applause: What the first league lacks is more money, then the clubs would be more competitive when they enter the HNL. TV rights should be jointly sold by HNL and the First League, in this way the First League would be strengthened, which is absolutely necessary. HNL is never more interesting, and everyone would like to watch the First League derbies. First League clubs should develop young players. HNS can impose on everyone that they must have a certain number of young players always on the field. In return, provide them with say 4 million euros from TV rights, so that the champion gets 1 million euros, the second-placed 800 thousand, the third-placed 600 thousand, etc. Then it would not happen to us that we have buckets to shoot in HNL like Rudeš this season.

In the 23rd round, all the leading clubs won. :applause:

Rijeka-Lokomotiva 4:0
Rudeš-Hajduk 0:2
Dinamo-Varaždin 1:0
Osijek-Gorica 3:0
Slaven-Istria 1:1

13 more rounds to go, and the standings are as follows:

1.Rijeka 23 matches-50 points
2. Hajduk 23-48
3. Dinamo 22-44
4. Osijek 23-34
5. Loco, exit 23-29
6. Gorica 23-27
7. Slaven 23-27
8. Varaždin 22-25
9. Istria 23-22
10. Rudes 23-4
Rudeš has already been relegated, and it looks like the top order will most likely remain the same. Dinamo-Rijeka derby next Sunday in Zagreb, a victory for Rijeka would completely eliminate Dinamo from the race for the title.

Noone will comment on the current affair?

Basically it just confirmed, what we all knew, how primitive and biased the refs in this league are. Bruno went, but there need to be more changes, if we want anything to improve.

Dinamo held "parliamentary election" last week, today club assembly elected Velimir Zajec as club's new president.
Also, new Executive Comitee was elected. In next days we could expect changes and removal of the remaining Mamic structures from the club.

Congrats to @nogomet ... I will say no more, if he has something to add, he will.

Congratulations on the new president, an icon of Dinamo, who is expected to lead the club into new heights and triumphs.

Also, congratulations to Patrik Kolarić, a very "perspective" referee with a "bright future" ahead of him, who gets all the highest marks for today's "flawless" performance in the Dinamo-Slaven game.
