Why is UEFA the only zone where qualification for the Futsal WC is subject to a competition separate to the continental championship?

UEFA follows the same model used in football. The others used the model like other arena sports. Probably due to the number of teams with high competitive level. With this UEFA gets more competitive matches (2 cycles). Plus Asian Cup is held every 2 years, would be hard to do a separate qualification.

Qualification is a mini tournament that lasts 3 days in Asiarpo.castro wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 18:57UEFA follows the same model used in football. The others used the model like other arena sports. You must be a foreign for sure. English can't be your primary language.Jackson Harrison wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 19:11Qualification is a mini tournament that lasts 3 days in Asiarpo.castro wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 18:57UEFA follows the same model used in football. Until 2018, Futsal Euro was also every 2 years. But starting from 2022, Futsal Euro is switched to every 4 years while expanded to 16 teams. So now every 2 years there is a major tournament for European teams (e.g., Futsal Euro in 2022, 2026, Futsal WC in 2024, 2028).rpo.castro wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 18:57UEFA follows the same model used in football. Also before the switch, all rounds of UEFA qualifying for both Euro and WC were played as mini-tournaments with appointed hosts. Now after the switch, there is more time to play qualifying matches, so they are using home-and-away format for the main rounds (the preliminary round is still played as mini-tournaments).

What will format for Euro 2026 qualifiers be? Will the NL format be implemented?amenina wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 21:43Until 2018, Futsal Euro was also every 2 years. Unlikely. The format for Futsal Euro and WC qualifiers are actually more like the club tournaments. The lower-ranked countries enter the preliminary round, and those who advance will join the higher-ranked countries which receive a bye to the main round.Jackson Harrison wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 21:45What will format for Euro 2026 qualifiers be? Wouldn't NL system make more sense or a full groups of 6 format? Weeding them out after 3 games seems very un-UEFA like!amenina wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 21:50Unlikely. Futsal don't get the funding in many national associations (England players had to at times pay for their own travel), and many players are amateur. So playing NL style matches (without the benefit of TV money) is simply not possible.Jackson Harrison wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 21:53Wouldn't NL system make more sense or a full groups of 6 format? England didn't even enter WC 2024 and withdrew from Euro 2022. Disgrace from FA.
