The season already started.

Standings after matchday 2:

Pos -Pts M
01 - 6 2 FC CFR 1907 CLUJ
02 - 6 2 FC FARUL CONSTANTA
03 - 6 2 FCSB
04 - 4 2 FC RAPID 1923
05 - 4 2 UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA
06 - 4 2 SEPSI OSK
07 - 3 2 AFC HERMANNSTADT
08 - 3 2 FC VOLUNTARI
09 - 2 2 FC PETROLUL
10 - 2 2 SC OTELUL GALATI
11 - 1 2 FC BOTOSANI
12 - 1 2 UTA ARAD
13 - 1 2 FC UNIVERSITATEA CLUJ
14 - 0 2 DINAMO BUCURESTI
15 - 0 2 FCU 1948 CRAIOVA
16 - 0 2 POLI IASI

Matchday 3 games:
2023 JULY 28:
FCU 1948 - FC Universitatea Cluj
FC RAPID 1923 - FC Botosani
2023 JULY 29:
AFC Hermannstadt - UTA Arad
SC OTELUL Galati - FCSB
2023 JULY 30:
FC FARUL Constanta - POLI Iasi
FC CFR 1907 Cluj - Universitatea Craiova
2023 JULY 31:
FC PETROLUL - FC Voluntari
DINAMO Bucuresti - SEPSI OSK

Also played in european cups:
in CLQ1 Farul was eliminated by Sheriff (MDA) 3 - 1 overall. At least they've won a game and one point. The 3 - 0 in Moldova was disappointing. Sheriff were the favorites and have more experience, but they don't have such a high level, would have been nice to take advantage of the seeded status in CLQ2.

Now all teams are left with ECL which they played today and yesterday(FCSB):
CSKA 1948 (BUL) 0-1 FCSB (ROU)
Farul Constanța (ROU) 3-2 Urartu (ARM) (champions path)
CFR Cluj (ROU) 1-1 Adana Demirspor (TUR)
CSKA-Sofia (BUL) 0-2 Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe (ROU)

Very close to a rare 4 wins out of 4 games. But probably CFR had the hardest opponent, any way the most unlucky one as they were seeded.
Best result for Sepsi which has the biggest margin and away to. They are going to be very hard to eliminate a team than knows how to fight. They rarely lose by a big margin.
Most disappointing are Farul. In my view they had the easiest opponent at home and just manage to save a win. Clearly they are not very sure about themselves in the european games.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but we know the possible opponents for the next round in case of qualification:
FCV Farul Constanța (ROU) vs FC Flora Tallinn (EST) (champions path)
Sepsi OSK Sfantu Gheorghe (ROU) vs FC Torpedo Kutaisi (GEO) / FC Aktobe (KAZ)
CFR 1907 Cluj (ROU) vs NK Osijek (CRO) / ZTE FC (HUN)
Fotbal Club FCSB (ROU) vs FC Nordsjælland (DEN)

Overall there have been many changes in the teams. Many coaches were changed. Many players left and join the teams especially the top ones.
Some highlights:
CFR signed YEVHEN KONOPLYANKA (87 games for Ukraine NT)
FCSB signed Vlad Chiricheș (75 games for Romania NT)
UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA signed Alex Mitrita (18 games for Romania NT) returned after 4 years of being sold for a big sum
Rapid signed on loan Catalin Cirjan (young prospect from Arsenal)

Most interesting game next matchday will be FCSB - CFR. It will also be played in Ghencea stadium. First game for FCSB there. CSA Steaua (the army club in B) tried to do everything to not allow FCSB to rent the stadium. In the end the Prime minister intervened. FCSB and the owner still need to guarantee 1 minion euros in case the stadium is damaged. Really the things a NATO army should be worrying about in these period.

The results last night:
FCSB (ROU) 3 - 2 CSKA 1948 (BUL)
Urartu (ARM) (champions path) 2 - 3 Farul Constanța (ROU)
Adana Demirspor (TUR) 2 - 1 CFR Cluj (ROU)
Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe (ROU) 4 - 0 CSKA-Sofia (BUL)

So the only team seeded in the playoff CFR has not qualified. This rare for them they usually managed to at least get to the group stage. But they are in a delicate state as they need to start a new cycle. Not sure how much of the core that dominated Liga 1 will be able to help.
Sepsi proved again that they are serious team. They don't usually win big as they are more fighters. Not sure if the results are a sign they are ready for next level or just the opposition really bad. The other bulgarians didn't look to good, even if FCSB is still very unreliable when defending.

So for next round we have:
FCV Farul Constanța (ROU) vs FC Flora Tallinn (EST)
Sepsi OSK Sfantu Gheorghe (ROU) vs FC Aktobe (KAZ)
Fotbal Club FCSB (ROU) vs FC Nordsjælland (DEN)

Farul is the favorite, but they weren't to good in europe this seasson. but they should have the easiest opponent.
I evaluate Nordsjælland harder than Aktobe so I think Sepsi has a good chance with the form they are in. not that this means they are favorites.
FCSB defense is still not good. And the coach problem hasn't been resolved so they still rely on individual player values. I don't think you can advance this way in europe.

the 3 european teams postponed Liga 1 Matchday 5 games (so not the ones this weekend). I don't like this habit of postponing games. I've had done max for the return leg of the playoff as getting into a group to play 6 games is really beneficiary. Otherwise having official games to test different tactics would be better.

very close to full stadium at FCSB - CFR Cluj played in Ghencea last evening (FCSB won 1 - 0).
the european game vs Nordsjaelland will not be played on Ghencea stadium. The army club refused FCSB access to it for this game. So FCSB - Nordsjaelland will be played on "Arcul de Triumf" stadium. Much smaller, ~10000 vs ~28000. Also far from the traditional neighborhood of Steaua/FCSB (not sure if that matter, but vs Dianamo the stadium wasn't full, although all tickets were sold.

We know the potential teams to play against in the playoff of ECL:

Farul - Qarabag FK or HJK Helsinki
FCSB - Sabah or Partizan Belgrad
Sepsi - FK Bodo Glimt or FC Pyunik

I think we were mostly lucky. The alternatives were worse.
Farul should have a decent change, but they are so disappointing this season.
FCSB not sure they will make it at this stage, but if they do, they should have a decent chance, I think Partizan is in the same class even if they start as favorites. Honestly not sure if Nordsjælland aren't stronger than Partizan.
Sepsi like always will fight, but I think they were unlucky not necessary on the level of Bodo Glimt, but on the style. If Bodo Glimt still play like they did vs Milan this kind of style is a good antidote against Sepsi. They were very mobile and all over the field. This would negate the fighting spirit Sepsi has so on quality Bodo Glimt should have the advantage.

I'll refrain from posting news. This seems to have changed. And it would take place in Ghencea stadium. Still didn't see an official announcement. Although the original "news" mention that they needed to inform UEFA by by noon today.

postponed:

FC CFR 1907 CLUJ - SEPSI OSK
FC FARUL CONSTANTA - UTA ARAD

So big surprise. Petrolul won vs Farul, although Farul is not in the best of forms. Already 2 defeats, last year they managed to postpone this for a very long time.
Mild surprise the draw of inform Sepsi vs Otelul at home.
Voluntari managed to climb to 2nd place. That is a surprise. But these things happen in the beginning of the season.
Every team has scored at least 1 point. 3 teams haven't one yet. 3 teams managed not to lose yet, 1 team with perfect record.

So the european night:
FCV Farul Constanța (ROU) 3 - 0 FC Flora Tallinn (EST)
Sepsi OSK Sfantu Gheorghe (ROU) 1 - 1 FC Aktobe (KAZ)
Fotbal Club FCSB (ROU) 0 - 0 FC Nordsjælland (DEN)

Farul is almost in the playoff. And I noticed they will actually play vs the loser of Qarabag FK or HJK Helsinki. So I'd say they would be favorites there. For sure the best change to group stage in Romania.
Sepsi reportedly played ok, not sure that for their style it matters to much the next game is away, it depends if Aktobe can perform better at home. should still be in the game but a slight advantage for Aktobe.
FCSB got the draw. Didn't look like they are in control. The home advantage matters more for them. Second game will be harder, and than we have to factor the artificial ground. FCN became a clear favorite. But still everything to play. It would be a real shame for FCSB to not take advantage in their fist year as unseeded on the fact that the playoff team doesn't seem in good form. Partizan lost 2 - 0 away, they still have change to turn it at home, but don't look that threatening.

POLI Iasi - SEPSI OSK
FC FARUL Constanta - Universitatea Craiova
2023 AUGUST 28:
AFC Hermannstadt - FC Universitatea Cluj
UTA Arad - FCSB

so Farul is having problem this season. Combined with the fact that they are the only one with realistic chances to get in the groups of ECL I don't think they will matter in the title race.
FCSB still perfect in Liga 1 results wise. But they are not convincing. Since the elimination from ECL they will sell some players so the depth will take a hit. The first 11 shouldn't change unless a really big offer comes and that is not probable.

From now on we won't have a full picture of the standings because we had those postponed games. Not sure when they plan to recover that.

FC Flora Tallinn (EST) 0 - 2 FCV Farul Constanța (ROU)
FC Aktobe (KAZ) 0 - 1 Sepsi OSK Sfantu Gheorghe (ROU)
FC Nordsjælland (DEN) 2 - 0 Fotbal Club FCSB (ROU)

Farul qualified as expected and have a good chances vs HJK (FIN) in the play off. I'd say Farul are slight favorites.
Sepsi again punched above their weight and managed. They started unseeded so getting to the playoff is very good. They gathered enough points for an unseeded team. Next vs Bodø/Glimt (NOR) I think they don't have a realistic chance. They'll fight for it, but I think the difference in quality is to much.
FCSB didn't show at any point they would be worthy to get past Nordsjælland. TThe danish have a much better playing system. I'd say at the talent of the players the difference is not that big, but the team tactics and professionalism there was a big gap. Also in this second leg the game ended when Chriches who should have been an improvement in defense (Romania Captain, highest payed in liga 1) got a stupid red card, he wasn't very sure until than.

We probably need to accept that the level of Romania is 1 team in ECL groups if even that.

14 - 4 5 UTA ARAD
11 - 3 6 FC BOTOSANI

quite a game between U Cluj and CFR. The derby was spectacular, the report say. The scoring made it interesting for sure. U Cluj leading 2 - 0. Getting over turned to a 2 - 3 and than managinge to tie at 3 - 3 and finally losing 3 - 4.

3 teams still unbeaten: FCSB, UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA, SEPSI. all play off teams so no big surpise.
2 teams haven't won any games. Otelul and FC Botosani. Botoasani is a surprise they were worse and worse the last 2 season. Otelul a newly promoted not that much, it's more interesting that they have only 1 defeat (vs FCSB) and the rest are 5 draws, the most of any team.
1 team manage to win all games: FCSB (they have a postponed match).
to complete the statistics with the most un unuseful one. 5 teams haven't made a tie yet: FCSB, Voluntari, Farul, FCU Craiova, Poli Iasi.

FCU 1948 - FC FARUL Constanta
2023 SEPTEMBER 4:
FC Botosani - AFC Hermannstadt
SEPSI OSK - UTA Arad

The last match day:
Sepsi game was actually postponed because of the european game.
Farul wanted the same but Craiova refused, so Farul won the game vs Craiova.
FCSB lost it's first match ending the perfect start, played the second half in 10 men because of red card for 2 hand balls.(the first was a penalty even). Also the most in form player got a red late for foul in attack in the final minutes of the game. He'll miss the next game now.

Only 1 unbeaten team: Sepsi (but 2 games less).
2 teams haven't won yet: Otelul and Botosani.
4 teams don't have a draw yet: FCSB, Farul, FCU 1948 Craiova, Poli Iasi.

Next matchday we have some interesting games.
A derby: Rapid Dinamo.
first in the league will meat the 2nd in FCSB - Universitatea Craiova, should be very interesting.

In europe last week:
Sepsi OSK Sfantu Gheorghe (ROU) 2-2 FK Bodø/Glimt (NOR)
FCV Farul Constanța (ROU) 2-1 HJK Helsinki (FIN)

Sepsi got a good result vs a clear favorite. Haven't seen the game, but I expect FK Bodø/Glimt to not have problems at home. Other wise it would be real spectacular for Sepsi to get in the group stage when you compare them with the other teams with higher expectations failed this CFR,FCSB, Craiova(last year).
Farul got the minimal advantage, I hope it's enough. They some times look naive, they can play attractive football, but don't necessary know to secure a result.

The great Rivaldo we'll become owner at Farul. He both some of the share from Hagi.
Rivaldo got to know Romanian football thanks to his son who spent a couple of years in Romania, mostly at Farul.
